|
|
So I have Pro Tools 10, an audio interface and a synthesizer.
How do I record the actual sounds of the keyboard into pro tools as an audio file? I thought it'd be as easy as plugging a line out and in into the mbox but it seems it isn't!
I can record MIDI data but not the actual audio which is what I'm after.
Any help would be much appreciated. |

make sure that protools is setup for audiorecording, go to the preferences page and set it up there. next.. every audiotrack should be armed for audiorecording. you probably have to click on the track itself to set it up there.
i use reaper myself, but setting up protools is basicly the same
i hope this helps _________________ Harness the power of Korg synths |

I don't have MIDI in / out cables. Are they necessary? I would've thought I'd only need two leads from the M50 audio outputs into the Mbox to record audio. |

to record audio you only need audiocables, in this case you dont need midicables because the m50 has usb midi. _________________ Harness the power of Korg synths |

Thanks.
I have a feeling it may be something to do with the fact that the M50 doesn't register as an input midi device like it should.
This is strange though because Sibelius and device manager do recognise the M50.
I am able to hear my custom sounds through the Mbox in pro-tools and the mixer responds but it only records empty audio tracks. |

Did you install the drivers for the mbox?
normaly you have to tell every singel audiotrack to use the incoming signal from the mbox, because you plugged the m50 into the mbox
if protools doesn't recognise the mbox, no audiosignal will be recorded. that principal goes for every music program ( DAW).
make sure protools knows your mbox ( look in the preferences)
set every track for recording audio
you might try import a wave file, this automaticy sets an audiotrack armed for recording audio, and listen to your mbox if it plays that wavefile. if it does... you just have to set the track armed for recording and it should be fine _________________ Harness the power of Korg synths |
