|
|
I am trying to install the Korg USB midi driver for 64 bit Windows 8.
It all seems to install but there is no sign of Kronos as a midi source within Live or Sonar X2 nor Reaper.
Tried Windows 7 compatibility finally and that does not work any better.
The audio side of things works well. As I want to use the K as a midi source its important to get this going. Has anybody managed to do that?
I have the latest Korg driver version of course. _________________ http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1251 |

Did you maybe start the DAWs before the Kronos was finished starting up?
In that case your DAW won't detect the Kronos MIDI.
PS) The MIDI driver on the Kronos page is not up-to-date.
The latest version is 1.14 r8 and can be downloaded here. _________________ || My music ■■ How to embed Youtube and Soundcloud on this forum ||

Yes, definitely started Live after full install.
And I had R6 of the file downloaded yesterday. I can't see why that would not work but will try to get R8.
Thanks
BTW your link did not work for me.
Korg.com still has this version:
PC:Driver:USA_DrvTools_e(1.14_r6).zip
I will try the R6 Mac version later (time permitting) to see if that works.
On my Mac Mini
Found your version R8 here:
Installing now.
No different. The Kronos midi does not show up in Live 9 (latest version). _________________ http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1251 |

Found this info in another thread and it appears to work. You need to change the Device Driver to Yamaha. Most bizarre.
1) Open device manager
2) Open "Sound, video and game controllers".
3) Two KRONOS devices will be listed - one for the USB audio and one for the USB MIDI. To determine which is which:
3.1) Right click one of the two KRONOS devices, select Properties
3.2) Go to Details tab and view the "Hardware Ids".
3.3) The MIDI device will be the one with ID "USB\VID_0944&PID_0203&REV_0100&MI_03"
4) Go to the "Driver" tab, click "Update Driver"
5) Click "Browse my computer for driver software"
6) Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
7) Untick "SHow compatible devices"

Hmmm, I have Windows 8 64bit and I didn't have to do that.
The KORG MIDI-driver works fine here. _________________ || My music ■■ How to embed Youtube and Soundcloud on this forum ||

Glad to hear that. I was not expecting such a problem at all. Worked fine on Windows 7 64 bit.
Now the Yamaha driver is doing the job. _________________ http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1251 |

Cool Select the Yamaha MIDI Device |
Hi. I'm having the same problem all of a sudden. I wonder if something in the Windows 8 update that I ran this morning caused the problem.
At any rate, thanks for the suggestion. I would like to try it, but I don't understand "Yamaha MIDI Device". Where is that located? And why would it be on my PC when I have never installed a Yamaha MIDI device?
I'll give it a go when I can. In the meantime, I'd really appreciate any tips/insight on this. |

My guess is that it's a build-in Yamaha device driver, so it probably comes with Windows.
I have all the latest Windows 8 updates, yet don't have this issue. _________________ || My music ■■ How to embed Youtube and Soundcloud on this forum ||

I didn't get as far as trying the (probably built-in) Yamaha driver tonight because the problem mysterious vanished |

Omg, you cannot estimate how much you helped me. This Yamaha selection solution is definitely true. I used to have only audio driver way of my X73. Nothing was working with MIDI driver, including Kronos Editor.
Also, I really cannot understand while Kronos is so powerful, it has a useless editor. This sucks.
Cheers, thank you.

If you think the editor is useless, then you don't really know what does it do... _________________ Roland Fantom-G6 ARX1, Korg M3-m exb-Radias, Korg Z1-18v, Roland MC-808, Roland MC-909, Korg microKontrol. |
