|
|
Hi,
When in PROG mode, Krome plays only what comes via MIDI IN channel 1 (or another single channel). Thus, it uses the same program as the KROME's keyboard.
What if I would want the external keyboard to play another program? I can do it by switching to the SEQ mode, but then it makes programs sound differently. Probably some FX is deactivated in SEQ.
Is this a limitation of Krome? Can I use still use FX (like MFX in a program) and play two different programs, one via Krome's keyboard and via an external keyboard? |

This can be done in Combi mode, by creating a Combi containing the Programs of interest, and then assigning the different Programs in the Combi to different MIDI channels.
To get the first Program in the Combi to sound the same as it does in Program mode, use the Copy From Program function (Combi Play screen, top right drop down menu) to copy the various Program effects to the Combi. For the second Program, if the effects are very different, give it a unique effects routing and try to set the effects it uses as close as possible to those used in the original Program. How close you will get will depend on the number of IFX, TFX and MFX that each Program uses within the effects limitations that the Krome can handle. It may be necessary to do a bit of give and take, and remove effects that are more subtle from one Program to allow the other Program to use more effects.

How the MIDI CC reverb/chorus effects fit into this? For example,if there is no FX routing set in SEQ but an external controller sets channel 1 reverb to non-zero value anyway via a MIDI CC? |

So I checked it myself. CC reverb has no effect on Krome. Then, the GM versions of many of its programs sound like simple synths. These two factors may explain why Krome, when used directly as a GM MIDI player, may sound much below its capability.
To make it better, respective programs can be copied manually to subsequent channels. Of course, this in turn won't support GM MIDI with program changes. |

Sorry, just saw your question. Reverb is not direct assign to an MIDi CC.
Open the Reverb and select an CC or other control on AMS WET/DRY. _________________ http://www.danstesco.ro |
