Where is this sound / Prog in Trinity? - SOLVED

Post by JavyUNSa »

Hello! I have a Korg Trinity 61 (no Plus or V3) and their sounds are very powerful despite their years!

The query is as follows: The sound similar to a vocal or burst voice heard in the video (1:18 and 3:20) is in the original Trinity? I can not find it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHyIQ451Omg&t=994s

Or is it in the Trinity Plus / V3?

Regards!

Just did a bit of Sherlock Holmes for you.

That youtube video appears to show the factory demo songs for the Trinity. The song in question is song number 2 aka "(SO1) -Aboriginal Hop-" from P_LOAD1.SNG, and the sound is a standard program, A034: Clarinet, as included in the P_LOAD1.pcg factory presets. So V3/Moss is not needed.

On factory song 2 (S01), track/channel number 6 (T06 -Didgeridoo/Talk1), the Clarinet has a Talking Modulator insert effect on it, which is not on the standard Clarinet Program, which is why the original A034 Clarinet sounds very different.

What's more, for that particular song, the Talkbox effect was modulated by an external dynamic controller (Midi CC #19), so you may not be able to 'play' it immediately in the same way. You're best substituting the MIDI CC#19 for JS(+Y) (recommended to avoid conflicts with RibbonX settings) from within the TalkingModulator insert effect settings, so you can play it yourself using JS+Y (joystick up).

In short, go to A034 Clarinet, go to the insert effects page, select the Talking Modulator effect (it's a size 2), and then open the Talking Modulator settings and change the Manual Voice Control Center from RibbonX to JS+Y (so you don't interfere with existing ribbon-X modulations), and then play the sound using the very lower keys (pitch), while using the Joystick+ to modulate the sound. You will need to push the JS up halfway to 'center' the talkbox sound.

You should already have PLOAD1 PCG and SNG available on your factory preset floppy disks. If you don't have them, I've uploaded them for you:

Firstly make sure you back up your own PCG first, if you've customised it, to avoid losing any of your former programming.

A long time later I return to the ring. Thank you very much, Timo! It is a very complete answer and is exactly what I needed to solve my doubt.

I am very grateful with your work.

Regards!
