Why do the 4 chord keys sound better than the keyboard keys? The sound is 10 times better with the 4 chord keys (probably have another name).

It should sound exactly the same, maybe the velocity matters ?

They are not so much better as they are consistent. The keys depend on your playing style to give an even sound within a given dynamic range (i.e., vel curve) and they can play loud or soft depending on your mood or the needs of the music. Most of us don't play fff all the time.

The pads (chord buttons) play less musically (vel) but more consistently. The nice solid two hand forte chord you played to assign notes to the pad is reproduced every time even with a wimpy touch. Plus it is bigger than what you're playing with the other hand - 6 notes vs. 1? - 6 wins!

M3 comes closest (8 pads) unless you want to sample the various chords and put 'em in a matrix player like Maschine.

It's mainly down to the chords being triggered with all the notes at exactly the same velocity. When you're inputting chord trigger notes, only the velocity of the last note entered gets saved, and that is then used for all of the notes in the chord.

If you're using a chord that has very little velocity sensitivity (unlike many of the presets on the Karma), then you wouldn't hear any difference.

Truth is for many players it's difficult to play a chord on the keyboard itself THAT consistently.

The version 2 software that you get when you purcahase KM50 to Karmify the M50 comes with 16 triggers in case anyone wants more. Very Happy
