|
|
I have a simple, yet to me, perplexing problem.
Macbook / Logic 8 / guitar / Kronos editor / Kronos 88 ver 1.6.
All I want to do is use Logic to make a song.
I have connected Kronos via USB "B" to Macbook. No extra audio interface, or MIDI interface / cables.
Logic is showing MIDI notes in ok.
Logic will record audio from the Kronos OK.
With headphones connected to Kronos I can hear both Kronos & Logic.
BUT - when I record a 2nd audio track in Logic, it records both the new audio from Kronos, and the existing audio from Logic (whether a Logic based audio track, from, say, EXS24, or an ordinary audio track.
If I mute the previous audio in Logic, then I can't hear it when I play it back. (obviously). But the new track does contain only the new Kronos audio.
Kronos Global audio page set as follows -
Input 1 - L/R, Input 2 - L/R
USB 1 - L/R, USB 2 - L/R
All FX conrtol bus - Off
All Rec bus - Off
Audio Output - 1/2
In Logic
Core Audio enabled.
Device - Kronos
Universal Track mode ticked
No software monitoring.
As an extra, I can hear the logic click - but I produced a simple logic midi track of EXS24 drums to do that.
Any idea what setting I have set wrong? Or am I trying to do the impossible?

I don't know the answer, but it might be better to ask this in the Kronos forum threads. _________________

If I understand you correctly, you are attempting to monitor everything from Kronos while recording to a DAW. I believe that you can rectify this problem by monitoring everything, including Kronos, through a monitor output from your DAW. This would allow you to play back prerecorded audio from your computer without routing it through Kronos and, subsequently back onto the new track you are recording.
Hope this helps.
Best,

OK I can manage to work that way - but how do I set Logic to output only to the headphones, and not to the USB cable to the Kronos? _________________ Struggling with Kronos & Logic |

You need to set up an aggregate device that contains both the Kronos Audio and Built-In output. Here's an article that shows how to do this. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1215?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Basically, you are creating a virtual device with multiple outputs, combining the available outputs. Logic Pro 9 works around this by allowing different input and output devices. |

The only question I have about the aggregate device, is the sampling rate. I need to check the "resample" box for the Kronos. How does that effect the audio coming from/to the Kronos?

OK - I've set up an aggregate device consisting of Kronos, Built-in Output and also Built-in Input. Clock source is Kronos. None are Resample.
Now I have headphone sound, but no ability to record Kronos.
I've quit & restarted Logic (.
Set the "Audio " preferences in logic to "Aggregate Device".
Any thoughts?

More messing -
I can now record Kronos, but I still get the audio from the other tracks recorded with it.
Headphones now working OK.
I'm flumoxed.
Core Audio set to Aggregate Device. _________________ Struggling with Kronos & Logic |
