EMX2: Recorded events suddenly stop during playback.
I ran into an odd problem, most of my recorded events don't play the full recorded event back but stop playback after a minute or so.
Has anyone else ran into this?
The parameter guide says there is a limit of 100 files but nothing about a maximum length or amount of events recorded in one recording session.

Yep, this has happened to me. I tried to reord a 7 or so minute take SEVERAL times with the event recorder, playback stopped after about a minute and a half. Super frustrating and i've completely lost faith in the event recorder, until someone can expain why this hapoens i'm recording audio only into my ipad. GRRRR....dutchcow wrote:I ran into an odd problem, most of my recorded events don't play the full recorded event back but stop playback after a minute or so.

If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.
Volca Sample, FM, Beats, Kick. OP-1, Monologue, Pocket Operators. And an ipad.

^ Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this, but not glad there is yet another unreliable 'feature'. Not to mention the time lost recording events and doing them again due to the lack of overdubbing.
Like you, some of my events are short, around 5 minutes. Those also do not play back properly.
It makes me really wonder how much time Korg spend testing the software. I suggest they send users of this forum free devices and access to some ticketing system to provide direct feedback/bug reports.
It seems impossible to contact Korg directly. Everything is done trough retailers. Very disappointing. Korg could provide their customers who are willing to to the take the time to report bugs a way to do so somewhere.
That said, my recent experiences with Korg support are crap. I didn't even got an answer to what they are going to address in future updates, and more importantly what not. If they do not intend on sorting out the pattern change glitches and FX tails they should say so.
Give customers clarity and usable answers. Not a buy our stuff and pray for updates and fixes.

Very true. When I first reported those horrible glitch sounds when using Poly2, I immediately contacted Korg, and I still haven't heard anything back from them.
This does bring to mind an issue with the KP3. When it was first released, each of the sample pads would be running continuously, even while off. That meant that if turned one off and then back on, you wouldn't know where in the sample cycle you were. They later updated this to include 4 different types of sample types, 2 free running and 2 that triggered from the beginning.
Like you said, it makes you question who is testing these things (musicians? surely not...) and more importantly, for how long?

I've not bought any "new" hardware since the late '90s, so i'm a little out of the loop, but i'm absolutely bewildered by a manufacturer as big and as respected as Korg releasing something as unfinished as the new Electribe. If they were some little up and coming outfit struggling to get the R and D funds together and wanting to get some quick return on their initial investment to pay for further development, fair enough. But this is Korg!! I've said this before, i do like the new Electribe a great deal and it's all i want to play with at the moment, but wtf!!
I'm hoping that because they've made an investment in the (rather nice) actual hardware they will carry on and get the software right, otherwise it's a very sad end to a much loved line of boxes.

I agree with you 100% apapdop. Korg is really taking chances here if they don't fix up the electribe. This is an extremely well loved product line. Its not really a good sign that EMX owners and users are generally unhappy with it. Right now all we can do is wait and see if NAMM will bring us an update. We should also be complaining to Korg as much as possible (even though we shouldn't have to be doing this!)
Its a bit alarming, though - I get the sense that many companies are adopting this type of approach - rush release a product with minimal testing, and then address issues as they feel like. We aren't testers, nor are we getting paid to find these bugs and glitches.

Ugh, seriously?!?!
This was the one feature which was going to make this machine worth purchasing since there's no real Song Mode. Unless they fix this or add a new Song Mode in an update, I won't be buying one. Playing back a simple series of chained patterns shouldn't have to be a total gamble, especially when a lot of people need this feature in a live situation.
I suspect there's a limit to how much MIDI data can be contained within the file. One way to check this is by recording a handful of different Event files, take note of which ones end up crashing, then loading the memory card into a computer and seeing if they are same data size.

Roland Juno-60, SH-101, TR-606, MC-505, Casio CZ-101, Yamaha DX100, DX11, Kawai R-50e // Korg R3, microSTATION, Monotribe, MS-20 Mini, SQ-1, minilogue, electribe sampler, Volca series: Bass, Keys, Beats, Sample, FM, Kick, Moog Theremin
Considering the release delay between the two new Electribes, this probably isn't far from reality. Another reason they could have rushed this one out before the other is to hit some kind of financial quota for 2014. Either way, it's one thing to complain about a lack of certain features which a lot of previous EMX users are doing, but when the few features it actually has don't function right, it effects everyone in the end. Like I said, I won't be buying either of these units unless this feature is fixed.roblabs wrote:Its a bit alarming, though - I get the sense that many companies are adopting this type of approach - rush release a product with minimal testing, and then address issues as they feel like. Too bad I ran into this after sending a list of issues to my music store which they've forwarded to their supplier, who will then forward it to Korg
At the end of the next month my trial period runs out, I hope to receive an answer (or better, firmware updates) before that time. Otherwise it's going back. I can always buy it again once the bugs and issues are addressed.
