The SM58 is a reliable Mic that you can hop off a brick wall, and still expect it to work as good as the day you opened the box. But compared to proper Studio Mic's that require 48V (powered by the OASYS) it just does not compaire.

So it’s reduced basically on the level of a quad processor with all the plug-ins that you have inside and that’s maybe 90% of the record. For the rest, I probably have only two auxiliary synthesisers, the Korg Oasis and the Roland V-Synth XT, but they were used only a little bit. But there are no effect machines or nothing; everything is plug-ins

mentions K.O ? because his album used only 10% of OASYS and V-Synth ?
I think your question is a loaded one. There are so many avenues to consider but the simple answer depends upon you. This thread has given you some great information. I do alot of work in my studio. I only own one keyboard (hardware) and that is the Oasys. I do have softsynths and an acoustic piano. From an instrument standpoint that's all I use and really all I need. I could make a case for certain keyboards and there are some very nice ones out there that do things differently but I come from a different perspective. I think its incredibly important to master the gear you have instead of buying a whole bunch of stuff to do things. I know there are people who disagree and I respect their opinions but this works for me. I can't tell you how many people have multiple things that do the same things and/or they don't understand or truly grasp the gear they have and what it can do. Something to keep in mind at the very least. The Oasys is a monster and could take some serious time to wrap around that completely. Not that its that difficult, but more that it has that much depth.

You say that you are a big fan of workstations. The Oasys is a great and varied source of sounds with other goodies thrown in, but as a workstation it seriously falls down in the sequencer department. If you are coming from software or another contemporary hardware sequencer, you will be disappointed.
I didn't owned any workstation up to this point. Now I am trying to understand if K.O. could work as a studio for me.
