Damper pedal sending continuous CC messages

Post by pilar5810 »

I just replaced my Kurzweil K2600SX with an Oasys88, and while I LOVE it, I have one problem. Oasys's damper pedal (a Korg pedal which I purchased with the Oasys88) is sending continuous CC messages to my DAW software (SONAR 6 PE). I used to just get a "pedal on" and "pedal off" message from the K2600. This is unnecesarrily clogging up my midi tracks and making it nearly impossible to do editing. Can you help?

Best wishes,
JP

You can change the polarity of the pedal in the Global setting.

This has nothing to do with polarity. It's more than likely that you have a "half-damper" pedal which acts more like a continuous controller than a switch. A half-damper pedal will output intermediate positions of the pedal (unlike a normal sustain pedal which is actually just a switch).

Try a different (normal) sustain pedal and this likely won't occur.

SKI,

You were right on the money. I switched out the Korg pedal and used my old Kurzweil pedal and... problem is solved! Thanks!
