Do your research first, their future, present, and past look pretty decent to most analysts of such a fickle industry. This is a typical Problem of the Korg Sound philosophy, they build instruments with poor groundsound and overdub it with a huge effect section, this concept cannot have a future.
MOD-7 -- worth the price?

Dr. Vandenberg...
Dan's reply, as always, is to the point, informative, and polite.
I'm not going to be so polite.
First, the "Doctor" comes here to ask a rhetorical question which, were he to be seriously and sincerely interested in having an answer, would listen to some online demos or, better yet, visit a music store and audition it himself.
Second, he regurgitates the moldy "argument" that the Oasys is fundamentally flawed because you have to pay so much for it and you can buy plugs for a lot less. Clearly the DAW route isn't for everyone. Keyboards are not "dead". And considering the success of the Oasys, argument = invalid.
Third, the "Doctor" implies that software plugs are prone to becoming out-of-date. Clearly then the Oasys offers advantage in this area, for as its OS is updated, unlike DAW-based third-party plugs the Oasys' EXi's don't become suddenly incompatible as a result.
Fourth, how can someone be taken seriously when they tout the potential out-dating of plugs when some of the very synths he's discussing are old as the hills?
Conclusion: Well, I will be more polite than originally planned and leave it to the reader to draw his own.

I see four problems here...So what is MOD-7??It is a Dx7 or casio Vz10m deluxe with more
funktions but it is not revolutionary as the DX7 in his time. And here
i can see a fundamental problem in the Oasys concept, people have buy a Workstation for a lot money with outdatet Softwareplugins.

Interestingly Dr. Vanderberg the critic gets rather cautious welcome and cordial hospitality almost to a point being revered as a fearsome dissident. What gives?

Maybe no one (except possibly Ski
) wants to be disrespectful to a "Doctor" ??
Perhaps I'll start referring to myself as "His Majesty, Herr Professor Doktor and all around great guy Andrew Leary, ESQ., PHD, DDS, MD, BS, more BS, etc. etc. LLP, GmBH, ad nauseum infinito". I can feel myself getting more important already! What's more, my opinions are now worth at least 3.14159 times more than they were this morning!
If I'd only known it was that simple, I'd have got me some more titles sooner!!

Dr. V.,
Please forgive my tone in the previous posting.
There are many people (myself included) who think the MOD-7 (and the Oasys in general) is a good thing. If you don't think so, no one is going to force you to buy it. If it does not fit your needs, then by all means get something that does. Korg makes a number of products and we sincerely hope that some of them may indeed be the kind of products that would help you make some great music and enjoy yourself.

There is something more than a designation that pays him the cautious respect. Doktor Vaderberg, while trying out all the funktions, make sure to keep on using k instead of c otherwise all the forgiveness and the sincerity might fade away. Be sure not to mix up on the word Korg or you'll be thrown into eternal damnation.

And of course the Swine-nette. That's two elastic bands stretched across a cat's ass and you pluck it with your teeth.

OH,,, back on topic... did I forget to say, YES, MOD-7 is worth every penny.

Yes...we indeed digress.
Mod-7 is to me the most cost effective set of presets/programs out there for hardware.
I especially like that you can recreate, almost exactly, the old-time Swine-nette and Dodophone, then add FX, that you never could in the old days because the catalog was limited to the nose blow, chair squeak, and hopper reverbs.
OK
