As in all things musical, my CD is much delayed though it is almost finished. At some point I am going to have to put an end to the madness of the almost endless cycle of tweaking and re-recording little bits here and there and release the wretched thing into the wild.. There are a few new demo tracks from the album up on my website for anyone interested.. I would imagine, at the current rate, the new album might be ready by 2008

Seriously though, the main reason for the delay has been extra work I undertook for a movie project that put me way behind schedule.. Apologies for the delay everyone and for the marked lack of postings both here and on Karma Labs in recent months.. though I'm not sure that is such a bad thing for the rest of you given the nature of some of my previous posts.........

It is - indeed. Having spent some time on Karma on my own Eric's explainations are very interesting for me!

Eric, I would very much like to get the tutorial you were musing about at the end of this interview!!

(*big sigh*) Karma is great BUT so BIG at the same time it's quite a challenge.

I created a view Combis working through the available tutorials and the "small" manual, following some tipps from this forum (BTW one of the best was the "re-engineering"

) ... it's fun but A LOT to learn.

@Peter: thank you for continuing your blog - that's a lot of work I believe many Oasians highly appreciate!

You are very welcome. Actually, completing the blog interview gave me an opportunity to reflect on more than just my history. I highly recommend this process for anyone. Also, I appreciate the quick response on my audio demos (once I figured out my encoding mismatch). That was perfectly timed.

Hi Charlie,
I know what you are saying. Combi creation is a very complex set of steps that one must gain experience with. As I suggested in my interview, most users tend to give up too early in their attempts. To be sure, however, it's not really a mystical alchemy known only to a few. And, there is not just one immutable method that must be adhered to. Anyone willing to indulge in combi creation will eventually make steady progress. You should learn something new with each mistake riddled session. That's the key - a willingness to learn from your errors. Once you get a firm handle on the KARMA aspect, your combi designs will take quantum leaps. That's fairly well how I honed my craft. Nevertheless, I realize that a tutorial from yours truly or Stephen would definitely go a long way in helping others avoid some of the pitfalls that plagued me in the beginning.

At the bottom of the blog, you'll find links to Karma-specific tutorials, including my mini tutorial. I'll probably start with rewriting that for the OASYS (and M3). That simple one will get you started. Stay tuned for it.

I finally read both EJ2 interviews. Blogasys is such a great resource!!! Thanks, Peter.

Eric, you lead an amazing life. You seem mild mannered, considering you were a military drill instructor...

I liked reading about your early experimentations with piano tacks and household items to make weird sounds with. I used to get into my sister's piano cabinet and stretch out my workout springs, while putting a mic against them., so it's cool to hear about other people experiments. Makes me feel normal...kind of!

.. I made somehow the same experiments. Will never forget the vacuum cleaner I sampled into the S-750. Pitched it down, changed the Envelope and it became a jet engine.

Isn't it funny how we, our friends and colleagues in here come off quite a bit different than we really are. However, I think such resources such as Peter's blog help us get to know each other on a more personal basis. Shame we all can't meet for a beer, coffee, milk, [fill in your favorite drink here].
