Karma Output assignment

Post by jimmiez »

I want to assign a drum pattern from a Karma Module to the output 1&2 channel. This will allow me to route the drum pattern to my drummer's monitor. He can use this as a click track. I know I can go into Global and make output assignments from there but don't know how to do it within the Karma GE page....thanks...

The KARMA GE plays one or more Combi Timbres or Sequencer Tracks. The Timbre or Track has the Program, which makes the sound; the KARMA GE just plays the sound. So, it's the Timbres and Tracks that you need to route to the outputs. You can do this on the Insert Effects pages. Use the IFX Routing page if you just need the dry drums signal; use the Insert Effects page if you want to use effects on the drums.

For more information, see "Individual Outputs" on page 815 of the Parameter Guide (version E5).

I used a combination and assigned my drums to output 1. The drums sounded in the drummer's monitor but I lost the drum mix from my amp! Is there a way to assign the drums to output 1 at the same time leaving the sound in the L/R outs??

I'm running into that issue now, also. Once you route from L/R to one of the outputs, it even disables the output volume...

Yes, you can do this using a trick with the FX Control Busses. "Parallel Effects routing" on page 792 of the Parameter Guide (version E5). IFX bus routing and outputs work hand-in-hand; once you've created the parallel signal path, you can route it to any output you like.

Thanks, Dan, for reminding us about the Parallel Effects/Outputs ability of the Oasys.

jimmiez, it's not too hard to follow the description in the manual that Dan referred to, page 792. Perhaps if you let us know where you are getting stuck...?
