Why Do Burned Songs Come Out So BIG???

Post by Ultimate Dj »

Heylo,
Everytime I bounce and burn my SNG files when I load them into my Library they come out huge! I mean lyk take a 3 min song and its like 12 megabites! and I'm just wondering why the come out so mega big? :?

and also whats the difference in the speeds of the burning process? I mean I know that 24 is faster than 4x but does it effect the quality?
Thnx guys! :D

You know they're not MP3 format, right? 12 megs is not big for a .wav file. CDs can hold about 700 megs worth.

I guess you'll have to do it in your computer. Copy the WAV file to a usb/cd and then convert it in your comp.

P.S. I know what you're thinking... such an expensive keyboard and it doesn't deal with mp3 files... :P

No, these machines don't have Mp3 converters onboard.
Audacity will do it for you.

CDs aren't mp3 format! The two formats are completely different. CDs are higher quality; mp3s are compressed.

I'm curious, since this may be a generational shift: have you ever loaded an audio CD into your computer, to transfer to your mp3 player?

i thought a 3 min stereo song would be about 32 mega at48khz or about 30 mega at 44,1 khz, are you sure about "your" 12mega?

Yes, you're correct.....
44.1k sample rate * 16 bits * 2 channels ~= 1.4mb/s ~= 1.75kB/s

One minute is about 10 Mb

Thank god it's NOT mp3!
Seriously: it would be nice to be able to decide wether to bounce in wav or mp3 - but if I have to choose between the two the uncompressed wav is definetly first choice. 8)

Um dude thats all I do! I think I'm missing what else one could do? :D
And when I said that a 3 min song is about 12 Megabites I was only saying generally and I was talking about once I load it into my Computer. In The Oasys it is much bigger obviously. But once in my comp its gets smaller but still bigger than any regular song i have.
