Spdif 96k synching problems
I am trying to synch the Oasys to Logic via SPDIF at 96k.
I am triggering the midi files from Logic and want to record the audio back to Logic through a high quality SPDIF cable.
I have the following problems:
1.- Oasys seems not to receive midi data in PROG mode from Logic. It does in SEQ mode but I want to record the audio from PROG mode track to track as it sounds better.
2.- When the Oasys is slaved to the sync of Logic it gets slightly out of tune. (Both Logic and Oasys are at 96k)
Please any help will be much appreciated.

what do you mean by "global channel"?. What I did is set the Oasys at 96k (normal) spdif output in GLOBAL mode.
I am trying to sync via the SPDIF cable as I think it is the only possible way to sync the Oasys at 96k.
The sync in Oasys is SPDIF. The Oasys appears to be properly synched (no sync error)
In Logic the sync is set to Internal and the session is also at 96/24. The interface I am using is also in synch.
Oasys sounds slightly (half tone) out of tune. Although it still sounds amazing:-)!.
I had previously tried with my PTHD rig and it synched perfectly to the 192 being the Oasys slave or master. It is just with Logic that I am having trouble.

Per the first part of your post, you said that you can't get the Oasys to play notes from Logic when the Oasys is in Program mode. To me this indicates that the Oasys' Global Channel (i.e., Global MIDI Channel) doesn't match the channel of the data that Logic is transmitting.
If your Oasys is out of tune by about a half step, that's an indication that it's receiving word clock (via SPDIF) at the wrong sample rate. For example, if you play back a 44.1 file at 48, it will sound about a half step sharp. Conversely, if you play a 48 file back at 44.1, it will sound about a half step flat.
But then you said that you've got the Oasys output set to 96, so it's all a bit confusing...
Similarly, if your setup is clocking at 96 but for some reason the Oasys is receiving clock at 88.2, the Oasys is going to sound a half step flat. But you didn't indicate whether or not the O is sounding sharp or flat.
But aside from that, it's not clear to me from your post what is syncing to what in terms of wordclock. You said that Logic is set to Internal, but that's got nothing to do with wordclock sync.
If you would, please post back with specific details, including:
• brand and model of audio interface (you said "192" but what is that? M-Audio? Maxio? MOTU? Digi?)
• what is acting as the master wordclock source
• how the clock is being distributed

You need to ensure that your Logic Tracks are all sending on MIDI Channel 1 (or whatever Global Channel you've defined in Global->MIDI prefs on the Oasys). Program mode only responds to that single channel. If you were previously using multiple tracks talking to a MultiInstrument in Logic's Environment to address each Timbre/Track on the Oasys using separate channels, you'll need to switch to using a single channel. Change the channel of each track you're recording to Channel 1 and it will work.coucou wrote:

That suggests that the sample rate from the audio interface is incorrect. That change in pitch is typically what happens when you sync the Oasys to 44.1kHz rather than 48kHz. The Oasys still reports that it is synced correctly, but plays at the wrong pitch. You detailed all the steps but didn't mention whether you had a TOSlink cable running from the S/PDIF out of your interface to the S/PDIF in of the Oasys.
