An Oasys uprising?
Everyone's points are well taken. I didn't buy the Oasys to become a programmer, but to avoid it so I could spend more time creating. So I guess that part I can own is my fault.
I have created my own combis, tweaked a lot of sounds, etc. Was expecting more stuff from Korg or others and have been willing to pay for it.
Examples of weak stuff? The electric guitars included in Logic and in the free Kore2 are way better than Oasys to my and my editors ears. I tried for a long time to make the guitars passable for a film I recently scored--no one on our team ever thought they passed muster. I agree it IS a great keyboard there have been few upgrades. (The piano is pretty good.)
If everyone here is fine with the deal they got, then cool! I was just expecting a lot more when I spent so much hard earned cash.
I look forward to learning from everyone what I am able to use to get the most out of my Oasys since I DO have it love many things about it.

A statement like that only goes to show who really is the retard. Get rid of him asap, Sharp.
As for an Uprising.....I have much experience in Uprisings/Revolutions...so if you go ahead with it....let me know!
We all have had our say in this matter many times.
Basic results are;
Yes, We would love and sort of expect more sounds. (some of us would die for them...but hehe
But we are happy and thrilled with the way it is. and will continue to use it and program it.
Also Jeff have you purchased all the Karo sounds, Sharps sounds, Stephens Combis...etc? oh and that VST You mentioned that was free, does it also work with Cubase?

When reading the first post I thought "Oh no - not again
". Now having read the 2nd of Jeff I can see, that he is serious and speaks out of his personal practice.
Well, I'm sorry it turned out for you that way. For me it is the opposite. Most of the time I ventured into alternativ sounds offered from my DAW or from plugins, I quickly turned back to my Oasys.
This is not true for all sound-types though. Esp. with guitars I understand your critics. But that is an instrument I prefer recording in real-life anyway - nothing beats a real guitar-player as it's not only the sound but the playing-technique, too. However, if you want an excellent sounding virtual guitar (= one you hear, it's not a real guitar but sounds very good in itself) the Oasys is doing very well again.
I think the Oasys is the leading machinge regarding all "synthesized" sounds. Eg. MOD7 is an incredibly sounding engine, the MS20Ex is extremly surprising too, sounds offered from Karo (like the movie-collection or granular athmospheres) are quite distinct too. Overall I don't miss anything in this field of sounds.

Hi all,
we had this kind of discussion several times and the answers are similar: it depends for what you need/use the Oasys.
I myself did not even listen to any of the guitar sounds bevor buying the Oasys and probably haven´t stepped throught the guitars, bass or drums completely by now, because I do not need them (i work with a drummer, guitarist and bass player and you cannot "resynthesize" a human player completely).
Others who like to use the Oasys for a complete stand alone production might be disappionted by several sounds, well ok.
Others combine the Oasys with special equipment, like Daz wrote, but think the Oasys is a good "allrounder".
So we will never come to the one and only answer and solution, but what I liked was the link given by Daz to the Korg feedback:
Maybe it would be good if Korg should do this again and give some feedback / interaction to the Oasyans, because this would "channel" those discussions a little bit.
and about sounds ... Karo announced a new library, so let´s expect the best

From listening to their mp3's from previous releases, it should be tasty.

I don't get it... how can one invest so much money on a super-workstation (my opinion) and come out now to give us this kind of argument. You're under rating the Oasys.
Take my example for instance, I come from playing Roland keyboards and when the Oasys came out, I literally spent about 3 years researching about it, reading reviews, testemonies, manuals, articles, you name it. Still today, even with no upgrades/sounds/combis for some time, it still blows me away... I mean, I have so much to learn and do with the factory stuff that I don't think much about not having any new stuff...
It's like the human brain in the majority of people... it's potential is only being used at 10%, 20%...
Maybe you have the wrong sense of the Oasys is and represents.
Peace.

I would say that he DOES know something about you. And what he knows about you has your bad mouth/fingers, rotten attitude, and negative aura smeared all over it. Everytime you come in here and start belly-aching about your Oasys (and it is fine that you have an opinion about it) you seem to turn on various individuals that really would like to help ya out if they could. Not that anyone can change your attitude or opinion about your Korg...but I see people offering you a different viewpoint or even a suggestion or two that could help ya if ya were the kind of guy to listen and not lash out at us. I bet most of us are pretty okay guys. And a lot of us are a little edgier than others. I know I am. But perhaps it would be best to hate your Oasys and not piss acid at those of us that happen to REALLY dig the Big O.
And don't forget: We DO know something about you. It is what you tell us with your words everytime you launch your thoughts into new subjects or just by way of replies to others. We seem to know a lot more about you than you may think. Now...why don't you throw us way off course by saying something nice to somebody in here. Or...better yet, tell us something sweet about your Oasys. Even if the only thing you like might be the serial number---just ANYthing positive.
Take care, MauroR... you are prolly a pretty okay guy, just relax a little.
p.s. HI EVERYBODY. I'm BaaaaAaaack! hehehe

p.s.s. I really don't want to see you get banned from this place... I would like to read some positive remarks from you one day. See ya...

HEY Dj!!!!
How you been buddy? I finally got done with my remodel (house) AND most importantly---I have the studio finished...(almost). That's why I've been scarce lately.
Dude, you're reply is cracking me up! LMAO!!! After I read it I went to the studio to scrape off the serial number sticker from my Oasys to send to you so you wouldn't have to hate anything about your serial number. The only dayamn thing that happened though was I scratched the living schnot out of the back of my synth and I shredded the h3LL out of the only proof of purchase I have for the bloody Korg... I mean USED TO HAVE!!! Heavens to Betsy, MauroR!!! You've screwed up everything!!!
hehehe.... juskiddin....hehehe!
Hey, how long are you gonna be gone for? Will you be able to post here or read up on new posts? Do they have electricity down there in S.A. or are you going to have to build a windmill to power your M3...he he he? (That rhymed--did you catch that?)
Just so ya know, now that I am done with all the remodel crap at my place I am going to be able to sink some serious hours into the studio to get some old stuff (music) transferred to the new gear and some gr8 new stuff finished and ready for mastering. I bought some new gear I will tell you about later. Mr. Oasys has been behaving himself and the few times I have been in the studio over the last several weeks I have had no probs what-so-ever with audio tracks. But I had to send in my MOTU MIDI thingy majigger in for warranty repair. (Hey, I bought a Supernova, a V Synth XT, an EX5 (mint) and an EX5R (mint)--actually, it all looks brand spanking new-- and some other stuff....shhhh- this is a Korg forum. I'm hopin' nobady else will read the stuff in these parenthesis.) So everything musicwise is shaping up pretty well. The only grief I have experienced lately is the MOTU going ass-sidways on me and MauroR pissin his panties in here...LOL. (pssst, I've been watching eBay in Italy for the auction for his Oasys...lmao!)
Take care good buddy. I will be looking for your next reply with glee...he he he...(hey, another rhyme) Oh well, LOL. Oh Lordy!!...there's another one.
