Zero 8: Problem recording audion into ableton/Logic

Post by Quirk Street »

Hey all,
I have my zero 8 for 4 months now and really love it.

The only problem I have is that I want to record audio, such as claps and acoustic instruments through a mic into Ableton or Logic.

When I plug in the mic (i've tried several; samson C01, shure sm57), the audio only comes in very quietly - it doesnt register on the DAW unless you scream into the mic.

Also my VU needles don't react at all to any signal on the Zero.
Could there be some kind of low-gain problem on mine?

Many thanks for any help

Are they powered mics, if so make sure that Phantom Power button is on, it is next to the Mic plug.... There is also a gain switch back there that should pump up the volume.

If that doesn't help, Hit the Setup button, then press SYSTEM on the touch screen. on the next screen press INPUT TRIM then select the OTHER tab. NOW knobs 5 and 6 will control input gain for MIC1 and MIC2 respectively.

NOTE: you need firmware v1.6 to adjust the input trim i think.

I have used my MIC in ableton no problem, so it is a set up issue you are dealing with.

Hope this helps
