Hi,
Any PA1x Pro users out there currently using the EXB01 Grand Piano Expansion board?
I am considering to buy one of these Piano boards and was wondering if the piano sounds are better than the free downloadable Grand Piano RX sounds which are available from korgpa web site.
Is it worth getting the Piano Expansion for better piano sounds or am I better off just sticking with the Grand Piano RX sounds that I have downloaded and installed.
Thanks.

Hi for what it's worth, I bought that expansion card a couple of years ago, and put it in my then PA1xpro.
I took it straight back out and sold it. I didn't think the sound improvement equated to value for the cost of the card.
The download one from Korg is quite decent for the PA1x.
Although from memory there were about 4 or 5 variations on the exb card whereas the download one is only one piano? Someone may correct me on that but I think that is accurate.

Hi,
I have the Exb card and I don't like the pianos on it at all - though they did teach me something about modifying pianos becauce the best piano in my opinion on the card actually didn't use sounds from the card but was a re-mix of the inbuilt original samples (called the Euro Grand).
You might like to try the 16 piano set available on the sticky in tha Pa1x forum (see Members Givaways and Contributions). Its a re-mix of the Grand Touch RX pianos from Korg as well as some modifying of the original pianos including 6 levels of filtering for each to give more expression than the originals. They also have pedal down resonance to give a nice touch to those high notes when the pedal is down.
It uses the same sample date around 15mb as the Grand Touch RX.
The Media file download still works for the 16 piano set.
All the best,
John
