for starters, he has 0 feedback.

then I asked this chap a couple of questions about the oasys and asked him if I can see the keyboard before I buy it. He did not reply.

I also asked this guy some questions about whether it was possible to pay cash on collection and got no response. As such seems like a definite scam.

This "sold" for 4,877 GBP.

I also offered cash on collection and another question about memory and received no reply.

I also accused the seller of scamming. I received no replies. Just hope the winning bidder is very careful before parting with a lot of money

donno if you've been following it up, the seller has been given a negative feedback and the feedback reads....

"Yes! Another idiot Oasys scammer stuffed in the rear, by Say No To Fraudsters! 15-Sep-09 17:02

If we could get ebay to have the seller include the public ID as a mandatory field on the item I would be able to look it up to see the registered owner and contact them to see if they are really selling it.....

May be, but don't know if ebay can impose that. Otherwise, unless the seller responds to our mails and is willing to give us the public id, there is no way that we can confirm if the real owner is selling his /her(?) oasys. Obviously the above case appears to be a scam.

Mike, in the future, if we do manage to get a public id, whom should we contact to find out if the sale is genuine?

You should always contact the local distributor in the country where the product was sold. They should have the database log in access to see registered users in that country.

I can try to help where possible but you are right it is reliant on knowing the public ID to know if that Oasys is linked to the person selling it.

I had an idea "say_no_to_fraudsters" would step in - he is a top bloke

He has stopped many Oasys scams that I know of. He sometimes puts an auction style warning up on ebay reminding people of the dangers of bidding on Korg Oasys - especially if the seller has just joined, has no feedback and won't reply to emails.
