[k.pro] music with your own (added) sounds. is that posible?

Post by kurt_hectic »

hi;

i know that users of kaoss. pro can add 99 own files on sd card and some how use them later playing live. i was looking for some examples on YT but i really not found it.

so i have a huge request to you dear users :) -> can anybody destribe a process of adding this files and write how we can use them?...add some YT videos\mp3s with your own music with your own samples\sounds please!

imo that option is major option in that device....how long everyone can use the same sounds?! that is misunderstanding for me.
what if i want create a indian\hardcore\death metal\latino music?!
i want to load a much more on this device... can i?

thx!

Hi,

I don't know if I understand your question, but I think you want to load audio-files from another source from SD-card to your KPro and overdub it within the KPro!?

For that look in the manual:

http://www.korg.com/uploads/Support/KAO ... 300000.pdf

Look on Page 18 "Loading from an SD card":
TIP: For WAV files and AIFF files, the KAOSSILATOR
PRO will recognize only files whose name consists
of a two-digit number with a file extension, such
as “00.wav” or “99.aif.” If .wav and .aif files with the
same two-digit number exist, the WAVE file will take
priority.

So you can load a .wav- or .aif-file to each of the 4 Loop-banks.
The problem is that you have to stop the KPro playing before loading files from the SD-card!

For a live-performance it is bad to stop everytime, so the live-performers start from scratch in the KPro.
Here is a cool live-performance-video by Denkitribe showing the "live"- technique:

I hope this helps!

The answer to what I think you're asking is a resounding no.

If by "sounds" you mean patches/programs, then it's no. You're stuck with the 195 programs. The files you can load into the KPro are just loops in a proprietary format (the PC/Mac Editor can convert files).

Is a .wav- or .aif-file a proprietary format?

Only saving to SD-card is a proprietary format!
But never mind...

I didn't think the KPro could handle direct importing of wav or aiff files and so you had to convert them to the KPro (proprietary) file type beforehand. But if I'm wrong, fair enough.

I'm still not sure what the OP meant...

my reading of the OP is that they wish to use the Ko Pro like a sampler

(sounds reasonable to me he Korg???? hint hint)

sadly the Kopro is a rom-pler (in other words it has sounds pre loaded that cant be edited, in the same way how an consumer grade keyboard will have violin/oboe/piano etc)

its such a shame they didnt leave some Mb user space spare to upload a single sample (like the in the electribe SX1) and then have it pitched according to the scale selected and recorded in the loop banks........... THIS IS NOT THE CASE ... there is no way to pitch or effect the WAVs you upload it simply uses them as a static bed to layer kaossilator sounds over.... why anyone would want to is lost on me.

however if you have any midi sampler already..you can use the ko pro in Ext mode ot control it via midi and use all the scales ...... NO RECORDING AT THE SAME TIME THOUGH.....once again a korg limitation wall is hit.

so all you need to make up for a few bad design decisions are

1x Ko pro in Ext mode
1x sampler with midi
1x loop recording device or another ko pro

why would anyone complain :)

Mine doesn't either - but if I brew up my own custom blends, it has two special places to hold them in. ;)

I agree. The KOPro is really an instrument with a unique way to control its own sounds. You can also play and loop other instruments into it, but I don't really think it is any good as a standalone 'sampling workstation'.

The ESX or the microSampler are really designed for exactly what you want to do: Creating entire songs from scratch using samples.

The iElectribe is based on the old Electribe ER-1 - an analog-styled drum machine. Doesn't work with samples at all.
