Changing Arp Speed on ESX

Post by phillwilson »

Is it possible to set the "multiple" value of the gate arp on the ESX?

I have my controls set to reverse so notes are generated by the touch pad and "depth" seems to be what is controlled by the slider.

but at 140 bpm the arp is always way too fast for my tastes, i would like more like a slow pulse. is there anyway to set this?

sorry if its a RTFM question, but my unit is second hand and i cant view pdfs at work , which is the only place i have time to spend writing stuff like this :)

thanks in advance

Straight from the manual:

The gate time will change depending on where the ribbon is touched. The speed at which the sound is heard will depend on the tempo.

Note: If ARP CONTROL is set to "Revers" the slider will vary the timing of the notes.

Hope this helps :D

thanks once again for taking the time to reply.

I have finally sourced a manual for my home computer ( so less daft questions...ta for the tiff offer tho, very kind)

in actual use in this instance i think me and the manual disagree in our definition of time

the time that is altered by the ribbon / slider is "gate time"

IE it is the percentage "off" compared to "on".......this is musically useful in a performance.

however what i was wanting was what i would call "base time" alteration......

IE...at the moment the duty cycle of an arp is 16th 16ths no matter what....... (apart form 100% duty which obviously plavs for as long as the ribbon is held and releases when released.)

in all other positions the arp is always 16ths...the variation is from "mainly on tremolo style effect" to "staccatto hard cut thin slices"

if you follow...

what i was hoping for was a way to set the arp to something other the 16/16ths ie 8/16th 4/16ths etc

does that make more sense now?

I understand :D Unfortunately this can't be done, unless someone has some tip or trick that I've missed.
