Does the Akai Miniak have an acoustic piano sound/preset?

The MicroKorg XL indeed has a piano sound. It is a single, non-velocity switched, monophonic sample that is stretched for the whole note range, with a maximum of 8 polyphony. In other words, a $100 Casio or Yamaha Consumer arranger that you get at K-Mart has a better piano on it and higher polyphony of 32-64 notes, with a stereo multisample.
The X50, on the other hand, has several pianos, including a velocity switched, stereo, multisample. It has 62 poly, 16 timbres, GM Midi sound sets, and 40 drumkits, none of which the MicroKorg XL have. They are different beasts of course, as the X-50 is a hybrid ROMpler based on Trition TR engine and ROM, while the MicroKorg XL is basically a cut down version of the R3, which is a cut down version of the Radias.
