I support both NovaMusik and Sweetwater. Sweetwater has fantastic service and support, and it costs real money to run a business that way. Some times it isn't worth the extra cost to buy from them, but I also understand why they primarily sell at MAP.tritonlover2000 wrote:Please buy only from nova musik. I hate when these parasite companies pricematch! Nobody deserves to have their business stolen away from them due to a good gesture they implemented.
And nova musik usually has the best deals around. Once they were selling Access Virus TI new for $1495.
Sweetwater Price??

I never buy from the sales guy who matches a price. You to the first store and spend so much time there asking question and they put a lot of time in to answering your questions to get the sale...if i go down the road and the guy in the second store says ill match the first guy...i say no thnks and go back to the first guy who sweated it with me initially.
If the second store wants my business they have to knock of a big chunk more to get my business...i have no interest in someone matching the price.

I've had very good experiences with Sweetwater, when buying my Oasys and thereafter. It is always the first place I go to buy gear.
My website contains more than 150 songs recorded on the OASYS in a variety of genres--from hard rock and jazz to orchestral and country. Please visit: www.gregorysidakmusic.com

I've always had top notch service from Sweetwater. They are my man! I dislike NovaMusik. Bought one thing from them once, an Akai APC20 controller. It was malfunctional. They would not take it back! Told me I had to send it to Akai. "we're only the retailers!!". Never again, no matter what the discount.

You can buy from Sweetwater but they should give you a discount that is cheaper than what Nova Musik has to offer instead of price-matching. Or else, buy it at full price from SW.
Price-matching is unethical IMO. Its a matter of principle.

"Korg simply makes the best sounding synths. Thank you Katoh and the rest!"
I bought a Novation X Station 61 from Sweetwater a couple years ago and it was the las one they had in stock. The joystick on it was broken (it leaned a few cents to the left so everything was flat). I called and they said they had more on order and I could keep this one until they shipped the new one. MONTHS later, they never got more in stock and I still had this thing. I called up and they said don't worry, keep it until we get the new ones. A couple more months later I called and just asked to ship it back because I didn't want to get stuck with it. FULL refund and I had it for almost 5 months. It was hassle free.
And if you're ever in the area, you need to do the tour. My salesman gave me the grand tour and it was quite impressive. If you have a specific candy you like, they'll even give you just that instead of the mix. You just have to ask (I didn't - he told me some customers do though).

I'd also be interested in getting around this, and currently evaluating some options.Hedegaard wrote:What about the German tax of 7% import?peter m. mahr wrote:Yes, they do and they do it very well.
How do you "bypass" that?
Surely your Oasys or whatever you bought from them, would be noticed by the customs?
I hope you can answer me on this one.....thanks
German import tax is 19% and they apply this on both, cost of equipment and shipping fee! Not sure about any other additional costs, e.g. extra toll fee?
I will wait for the official quotes in Germany and then decide where to buy.
