Oasys song

I thought I would share this improvisational piece 100% Oasys and recorded live with no multi-tracking before I sell it to help buy a Kronos. It's a little long but I was having fun! The Oasys remains a powerful instrument. FYI those of you who have seen CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY might be able to hear some of my use of the Oasys for the score of that film.

That was on TV here in the UK a month or so ago but unfortunately I missed it. So I'll keep an eye out for it again

Yes I worked with Michael. Put the Karma stuff to good use (I hope) in several films. And the title, a play on the Iron Butterfly song which was actually going to be "In The Garden of Eden" but the singer was too drunk so we got Innagaddadavida or however you spell it.

What do you want to know? I grew up in the rough neighborhood you see in Bowling for Columbine in Flint. I helped produce those and other Michigan scenes in Michigan never having worked on a film before, just because I knew the territory and could help. Then, when at the last minute when the music for the film fell through in desperation they asked me to come to New York to see what I could do for the music--sort of a lark, they would have used library music if I could not come up with anything. My main keyboard (well actually my only one besides a QS8.1) was the Korg Karma. I wound up covering like 20 cues in a few days--and then dabbled in music editing by selecting and cutting together five pieces for the cartoon in BFC. I also used the Karma alot in Fahrenheit.
Michael works very, very hard, and working on a film something that pushes everyone to do their best work. We only do this because we care very, very deeply about the issues at hand.
But getting back to music he and we are obsessed with getting it right. "Sound is more important than image."

Hey, Jeff,
Very interesting use of "Grand Illusion" from Catalyst v 1 combi collection. Well done. As with Douglas Hultsman's treatment of various combinations from Catalyst, I really appreciate hearing what users of my combi collections are doing. Looking forward to more.

Thanks Jeff, that was very interesting story you told there.
I saw all the films and am a "fan" of them, he even visited Denmark here some time ago, but was asking a high price for entrance tickets at the time.
Anyway, its nice to know the story about the background music, next time I see the films, I'll pay special attention to the music and notice the Karma keyboard.

Jim thank YOU for making my life easier! Keep em coming. I am not a programmer and love playing things in real time so it would be great if there were more of these. Its nice seeing such a supportive and informative community here.
One of the reasons I think I have to sell my Oasys is that it sounds like the hopefully many new combinations will not be backwards compatible.

Michael is a friend of mine and even subtle digs at him aren't really appropriate, I am sure you don't mean anything, just saying. And usually people who say things like this have it all wrong anyway. Capitalism did just fine. Anyway my Oasys and Karma played a big part for me scoring these films and I thought people might enjoy a little background.

Thanks, Jeff. Not to worry. I have Catalyst v 2 for OASYS (another 32 new combis) waiting in wings for Stephen to tweak and produce. And, I have Catalyst v 3 developing in the M3 while I'm away from home. As far as I can tell we will continue to put out collections for M3, KM50, OASYS, and the new KRONOS. Also, don't forget Scott Raposa's Reincarnation is slated for conversion from M3 to OASYS.

Now, I'm not speaking for Stephen (Karma-Lab), but the way I now see it, I would be working from OASYS, then porting over my collection(s) to M3/KM50 and KRONOS. That's how we handled Cat v 1 for M3/KM50. True there was a bit more converting my work for M3/KM50. But my guess is that there will much less fiddling to make my OASYS collections KRONOS compliant. I'll soon see how that goes.

Does that mean I'll be investing in a new KRONOS? What do you think??? LOL.
