padKONTROL (KPC-1, white) internal jumpers FWE & MD2

Post by tobamai »

Hi, this is my first post on the forums. I've done a few searches here on the forums and through google, but I haven't come up with anything relevant.

My story starts at a party a couple weeks ago where beer was spilled on my precious padKontrol (it's a KPC-1, white. I'm not sure if there are any internal hardware differences between this version and the black ones). So I opened it up to clean it out.

When I opened it I noticed a couple internal jumpers labeled FWE and MD2. There's a small table printed next to them that I've reproduced below for your viewing pleasure.

Code: Select all

                FWE MD2
Boot mode 1 0
User prog mode 1 1
Normal(md6) 0 1
Does anyone have any ideas what these are for? I don't have any jumpers on hand (nor do I have an interest in trying them myself). Anyone care to speculate on what these different modes could be? It's worth noting that there aren't any jumpers in place, so it should be running in the unmarked 0 - 0 mode (which, according to the table, is apparently not normal(md6) mode).

Very interesting... I wonder what that User Prog Mode is...

Something was rattling inside my PadKontrol so I took it apart it to fix it, that's when I noticed the connector on the back of the PCB, and now I am very curious about it, if anyone cares to share :D

Perhaps we are not supposed to mess with this hehe
