Hook the KP3 outputs to line inputs 1 & 2
Hook the KP3 inputs to line outputs 3 & 4 - be sure to mute monitoring on inputs 3&4 in the driver control panel
Hook the speaker inputs to line outputs 5 & 6
Configure the DAW to connect:
Effects Send to outputs 3 & 4
Effects Return to inputs 1 & 2
Main Output to outputs 5 & 6
You probably have the KP3 currently hooked up as:
KP3 outputs to line inputs 1 & 2
KP3 inputs to line outputs 1 & 2
speaker inputs to headphone output on front
This is wrong because:
line outputs 1 & 2 are probably set to monitor line inputs 1 & 2 through
the driver of the audio interface
that probably causes feedback
You may have the DAW sending its main output to outputs 1 & 2
that also will cause feedback
Your speakers are not headphones. Only plug headphones into headphone outputs.
The headphones output are an internal mix of all the inputs and outputs, depending on how the levels are set in the driver control panel
That is not what you want to hear, because it mixes the KP3 output
with whatever other output that is being sent to the audio IO
You only want to send the main output of the DAW to the speakers
The DAW does the mixing of the tracks to produce the main output
you want to monitor on the speakers - that's why the DAW output
should be sent to outputs 5 & 6
The main output of the audio box is not the main output of the DAW
kp3 feedback

Thanks for the clear explanation
One last question though:
(ive been reading about it a lot but still don't know the answer)
I can click ''insert return track'' in Ableton and then assign inputs to it, but there is no ''insert send track'' in Ableton? and with main output you mean master, right?
so, say I have 8 channels in Ableton and I want to record my kp3 over ALL of them, do I have to do something with the master output, or the return track? - confused -
