May I ask for feedback on the following? Negotiations are in progress with the view to include as standard the full version of Sonic Projects OP-X Pro 2 with every Groove X-R sold.

http://www.sonicprojects.ch/opxpro2/description.html

Please listen to the demos at the URL above, and let me know what you think of this plug in? James has already fully integrated all the OP-X 2 patch names into the Groove X-R library so that Qranger and the Lionstracs menus call up OP-X patches by name. Also we can run up to ten different patches from the OP-X 2 concurrently using 10 separate VSTi host engines.

I've been using the OP-X PRO and 2 for the last 2 years. It is very authentic
and one of the best Synth Plugins i use. Having it Bundled with the Groove XR
is a very good idea, it will be very usefull for any genre of music.
I love programming on that thing and its not that complicated.

Hi Bachus,

A while back you made some excellent suggestions which I did not respond to at the time. Here are my responses.
Bachus wrote:Only with your support in which i beleive more then in the holy pope, the Instrument will become a success. Its great to keep the system open, but it also will lead to people gtting intoo problems. Build a Backup recovery system intoo the Groove that lets people backup their whole system drive to an attached external hard drive. (needs to be easy accessible like pushing a single button) if you learn people to use this feature everytime before installing something new, they will allways be able to restore their old software when something goes wrong, keeping their Groove in highest condition for playing live while being able to toy around with new things.

I also have some ideas for support. Offer scripted install files for installing the VTS's on your supported list in WINE/Linux. That way you take away all pain from the using... It would be great if you could add these scritps overtime for all VST's you support, and on demand for some of the other VST's.

Offer a remote desktop support service, so you can access people's systems over the internet. This allows you to help people out. This feauture would not be free of use, but you could hire some IT students that would love to make some money with their knowledge and you could charge people for using this service so even you make some money with it.

While the first two services (or something comparable) might be a neccesaritty, the seccond service could even end up as making lionstracs more special then any other Arranger/workstation dealer. You need to make the system work for people with no technicall background at all, because if you don't these people are the once that will give you undeserved bad press.
On the suggestion of providing ready-made configuration files, we are already working on this and will continue to do so. The problem is that we can not buy or test every piece of MIDI enabled hardware that exists, so we will have to rely on help from knowledgeable people in the user community, and we will offer support on our new forum for such files to be stored. We will help people to develop their own configuration files, and we have been focussing our efforts on creating applications to make the job as easy as possible.

The latest news for example is that the excellent OP-X Pro 2 Oberheim synthesizer has been fully tested and integrated with the Groove X-R to the extent that every patch is available by name from within Lionstracs one-click patch menus, and from within Qranger.

On the suggestion of providing 1:1 assistance it is something we will do free of charge on the new user forum. There will be a Wiki site to capture the most frequent questions and answers. Now that I've freed up some time by dropping out of providing free support for the Korg Pa2x, I am looking forward to being a regular contributor re the Groove XR. First let us finish developments and launch the new web site.

Is it almost time to open a special section for the Groove XR?

Maybe the forum owner??? And whilst NOT official, it IS for Korg products as I stated in my OP!! I did not say it was an OFFICIAL anything...

Why do you persist in trying to be confrontational? If you have issues with me, why not speak directly to me about them, instead of the gutless action of whinging and whining behind my back in secret to others???? Yes I know about your complaints, totally UNFOUNDED.. And everything I have said to you has been ONLY in response to a provocation from you..

I am really going to try and steer clear of ANY Dutch people from now on. I was ripped off badly on two deals by Dutch people, stabbed in the back by another very recently, and now you.....

Sorry but there won't be a X-R section here. While people are free to talk about whatever they want, the focus of this site is for KORG end users and it would be improper to have a Lionstracs section at KORG Forums. There will be a dedicated site for Groove products in the future.

Regards
Sharp.

Maybe its weird but i happened to agree with both, Bachus and James,
of course, this is a Korg Forum and on the other hand, of course, Korg
has NOTHING to do with this forum...

I'm pleased to say that we have concluded the deal with Sonic Projects. Every Groove X-R sold in USA, Australia, Canada and UK will come with a preinstalled OP-X Pro II synthesizer, full license prepaid to Sonic Projects by us, and our customers will receive an individual license key by email direct from Sonic Projects.

Whereas under Windows you can only run one instance of OP-X Pro II, under the Groove X-R you can run ten instances of the synthesizer simultaneously, each instance running a different patch and having 12 fully independent voices on each instance. So you have a 120 voice synthesizer capability in place of the original Obeheim that had only 6 voices.

Sonic Projects have some superb audio demos, you may like to listen to them. Scroll down this page until you find the heading "feature clips".

http://www.sonicprojects.ch/opxpro2/description.html

We are programming up the AKAI MPD32 controllers to provide real time control of the synthesizer's capabilities. The patch banks are already incorporated into Qranger and the Lionstracs menu system.

Great news!
By the way, how's the progress with OS5 and Qranger 5...? Do you have all the demos ready for the upcoming event?

Hi Sam,

Domenico released ISO rev 2170 today, you can download it from the Lionstracs site - it's published as OS5. I'm testing it now. Save your current OS version and user files first!! I don't have a full sound library yet, so have been unable to work on the new styles to date.

Best regards,
Rob
