Cables for Kronos?

Post by Synthesizedclapping »

When one purchases a top of the line keyboard, what cables does one use to preserve the wholesome-ness of the sound? :D

It's a line level instrument so most decent cable will be fine. It's not like a guitar where the capacitance of the cord matters a lot more.

However if you want to believe the hype, then I probably have some cables for around $150/cord that I can sell you. Some of them are directional, so please plug them in the correct way or else the electrons will get confused.

If you are gigging then a good set of cables are fine.
If you are working in the studio, then I would think using the S/PDIF optical to your interface would preserve (sound wise) all the Kronos has to offer.

I run S/PDIF optical from my M3 into my DAW. It's served me quite well. With an ASIO audio interface, you should get more or less bit-accurate input straight from the sound module.

Can't you use the USB to go to the daw? Doe it function as an audio interface when connected to a computer?

I was wondering how that would work exactly.

Yes, and yes.

We're still waiting to hear from Korg regarding the specifics of their implementation, but we do know that audio over USB is supported, and that your DAW will see the Kronos as an audio interface.
