Kaoss Pad 3 dead effects. No factory reset...what now?

Post by CFC »

I have some dead effects on my KP3. The whole grain shift block can't be used anymore (sound cuts out until I release the pad again) but all the other effects still work as they should.
This is serious because the grain effects are the ones I use most of the time.
So I wanted to do a factory reset but as it seems there is no way to do this.
I've read some posts about this here in the forums and as it seems noone has found a way to get the Kaoss Pad back on track.
So what now? Is it broken?
I am pretty unhappy about this...any advices?

edit: Importing samples from computer to the KP seems to be broken too.
Also Synth programms react like 1,5 seconds after I press the pad. wow...something went terribly wrong -.-

edit 2: Tried the
"1. Press 1 and 2 and Sampling while powering on the KP3.
2. PrLD will appear in the LED.
3. C will be on, D will be flashing.
4. Press D.
5. urt will flash in the LED.
6. P.off will then appear in the LED.
7. Power off and on the KP3, enjoy factory reset goodness." - Method. Still the same issues. :/

Maybe there's something you could try !

Go to the Korg website, download the last version of the KP3 program and install it again on yours. Normally when you install it, it checks the version but I think you can tell it to install it again anyway even if it's the same version.

If your bug is software oriented, this will probably erase everything and make it like a brand new one !

If not, you problem is probably something broken, unsoldered or a piece (capacitor, resistance, chip) as failed so have it repaired...

You should try it, you only have 5 minutes to loose...

I hope this help.

Good luck !

I had the exact same problem. Grain shifters, synths and pitch effects were borked. Tried everything I could imagine myself, had to get it fixed.

Ok, so the exact same thing happened to me. And like CFC, the grain shift effect is the main (pretty much only) one I use. According to this forum, and others I've seen, this seems to be a common problem with the KP3. I think that Korg should make a recall and offer a solution for this problem, or the lot of us should ban together in a class-action suit against them. I currently own a Radias, electribe emx and esx, and of course, KP3 . . . but if Korg doesn't rectify this mistake of theirs, I'm going to sell off all my Korg equipment, and never buy from them again. I'm tired of these shoddy products that aren't built up to pro-gear standards. My KP3 has never even been gigged, and has only left the studio twice. I am very disappointed. Does anyone know of any other piece of hardware that can give me the grain shift effect?

Thanks
