Now you guys see why I have that many keyboards.

I take the opportunity for a novice's question. Ok., changing factory programs affects combies too. But, if I only change the routing of program IFXs or (as I usually do) add a little reverb (timbre/track+channel strip+knob8, I suppose) I still affect combies? Hasn't every combi its own routing and effects?
Combis have their own effect routings, yes. You can choose to either copy the effects assigned to a program when you you copy the program to the Combi, or use the combi routings to apply effects.felsineus wrote:I take the opportunity for a novice's question. Yes and no!felsineus wrote:So, if I understand, I can drastically change a programs' effects and overwrite the program, without messing combies.
When you copy a program into a combi it is either with its own effects or completely dry (ie no effects at all).
If the combi relies on the programs' effects and they are imported then yes, the program effects edits will affect the combi.
If however, you import the program 'dry', then apply effects within the combi, then no, the combi will be unaffected if you apply effects to the program.

I may be wrong, but I believe that combis never directly use the effects parameters stored in a program. If you want to hear the same effects used in a referenced program in a combi - you have to copy the parameters over to the combi - then you are working on a localized copy of the effects in a combi.
So yes, you can radically change the sound of a program while a combi may have a "sanitized" version with no effects or even an old version of copied effect parameters from an old "import" of the program's effect parameters.

The Combi/Program mapping does seem like one area where Korg could improve the OS of the Kronos. The SSD has increased the amount of data available to the instrument substantially and these interdependencies are unwieldy to manage. The OS should be able to warn if a dependency exists during an erase, move or overwrite, and offer an easy means for remapping or relinking Combi/Program dependencies.

aron, actually i already implemented complete and flexible view function for Kronos data in Aldan Librarian (that means you can doubleclick combination and see referred programs, or double click program and see in which combinations it is used) and know in all and every detail what need to be done to implement remaining functions.Where are the new guys writing editor librarians????
And would like to say i'm not going to continue, because :
1. kronos pcg content is much more complex to deal with comparing to m3, because for example it will be neccesary :
- to implement consistensy control between setlists and programs and between setlists and combinations.
- to support separately banks and dumps for different engines
- and, what's a pity, it won't be possible to create master files with 1000 items per bank (at least in the manner i did for m50/m3) because...there are no empty space in kronos pcg file to store librarian's technical data.
So, writing librarian soft for Kronos will be extremely time consuming, and intellectuality sophisticated job, and frankly speaking, absolutely ungrateful business. Better to play rock-n-roll and enjoy summer, girls, wine... etc.
May be Korg will implement all you are dreamin about in Kronos Editor ?

Hey, if my friends could write a K2000 editor, you can write a Kronos Editor
>Better to play rock-n-roll and enjoy summer, girls, wine... etc.
uh…. ok, got me there.
>Sina: But the Jupiter-80 really seems to be the ULTIMATE in synthesis!
Come on. If you are a real synthesis hound, there's no way the Jupiter 80 beats the Kronos for _synthesizing_. You have to be kidding me. I'm sorry, but if you really do synthesis, you cannot compare the Jupiter to the Kronos - or even to the PC3k.
I'm not talking about owning multiple keyboards, I mean if you really love synthesis....
