Am I mad to want an Oasys as well?
Am I mad?
I have a chance to get a used Oasys 88 for a great price just a couple of weeks after getting my new Kronos 88!
For some reason I can't shake off the desire I have always had to get an Oasys but I was never prepared to lay out that much money.
I know I don't get anything other than a different perhaps better build and a bigger moveable screen but it's still tempting me!
Any thoughts?

It will be a total waste of money, unless you sell Kronos and have money
left...otherwise, any extra penny for it it will be a waste.

If you really interested in adding an OASYS to your Kronos 88, I would suggest adding the OASYS 76, since it has a nice Yamaha synth action keybed.
Owning two 88s would seem redundant to me.
Instead of buying an OASYS in addition to a Kronos, I would spend the money and buy a dedicated powerful music computer.

Sorry to go against the tide of opinion, but if you have the chance of getting an O, I'd take it with both hands without a moments thought!
Not knocking the K - but the K was not built to be the most expensive workstation out there (look at it too - it looks the same as all the competitors; well, apart from that Jupiter 80 thing
).
The O on the other hand was designed, engineered and built to be like no other keyboard before it - and as it turns out (through Korg's release of the Kronos), there will be no other keyboard like it!
For me the O is #1, the K is #2. When I play the O I feel it's working with me, encouraging me to do more... the K does what it's told (very well!) - but there's no magic (for me).
Not a scientific comparison I know, but just the ramblings of someone who will have both - for me the K is an OASYS-61 albeit without Harry Potter...

Plugged in: Fantom 8, Jupiter-X, Jupiter 80, System-8, JD-XA, V-Synth GTv2, FA-06, SE-02, JU-06A, TR-09, VT-4, Go:Livecast, Rubix44, Shure SM7b, Push2, Ableton 11 Suite, Sibelius, KRK Rokit 5,
I'd pass on it with no question. Unless you're getting it for $1500 or less, I wouldn't even consider it.
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).

given the way you posted, it appears you are debating your impulse vs a practical decision.Jeremy Bender wrote:Am I mad?

Thanks for the thoughts folks. It's an extravagant impulse!
I could get a Moog Voyager...another dream synth I have wanted for a while...just something great about the Oasys look and feel!
I will sleep on it
Logic says no but...
Reality is the K88 is more than I need and is gorgeous to play.

Yea, I cannot see it. Just too similar, and the Kronos is more advanced in a few key areas. Now if you were gigging with it, and need something more road worthy, while your K88 sits in the studio...now the redundancy makes sense. But both in the same studio is not, IMO, a good use of space or budget (unless you have a sina point of view about redundancy in your arsenal). If you have a chance to get a Voyager with those funds....RUN don't walk to do so! That will be the purchase of a lifetime.
