A workflow I have been using recently is to set up my audio processing programs to read from an IFX slot as opposed to directly from the audio inputs.
eg. I make an MS20 filter program that processes audio from IFX10. Then I make a MOD7 program that ring modulates audio from IFX11.
Now I can wire these up any way I like in different combis, just by changing the IFX routing. I don't even need to put an actual effect in those slots, but can route eg. external audio in to IFX10, set IFX10 to no effect, and have this run through my MS20 program, then route the MS20 output to IFX11 in order to have it be ring modulated.
This is a bit of a hack and not exactly a perfect workflow, but it is much more flexible than what I was doing before where I had to edit each individual program when I wanted to route its audio differently for different combis.
Basically the idea is to use no-op IFX slots as secondary routable audio busses.

I may not understand what you're attempting here. For the STR-1, MS-20EX, and MOD-7 audio inputs, you shouldn't need to edit the Program itself simply to listen to another bus. These EXi simply look to the EXi Audio Inputs, which are assigned on a per-Timbre basis in Combis and Songs (Timbre Parameters -> EXi Audio Inputs).shawnhar wrote:A workflow I have been using recently is to set up my audio processing programs to read from an IFX slot as opposed to directly from the audio inputs.

(The AL-1 works a little differently; eventually, it should be updated to use the standard EXi Audio Inputs as well.)

Edit program in combi mode
Hello.
We're here starting from 2011...
Unfortunately no improvements came from Korg about the ability of edit program inside the combi mode.
I purchased a kronosx 88 20 days ago, and then I'm a newbee.
Is there something that I don't know about it or do we still have to hope in future OS changes?
Btw and despite this issue, Kronos is the best synth I ever had.

The entire Korg philosophy (which many people do like) is based around the idea that a combi is built of existing programs. So this is most likely never going to change. Personally, I'm happy with this.
You do get a whole bunch of tools via the Tone Adjust page that let you severely mangle your program inside your combi. I would look into that if you haven't already. While you don't get the same editing interface or all of the available parameters, you can do quite a lot.
