Kronos 88 DOA
My KRONOS 88 also has the SYTEM STARTUP FAILURE message. Have waited.. rebooted.. waited ..tried a different power outlet.. waited.. sang to it.. waited.. still fails to boot. Someone mentioned a factory reset. If anyone knows this procedure please share it with me.. Thank You.
P.S. Korg: Maybe you shouldn't have laid off the quality control division.

Re: Kronos 88 DOA
I'm sorry that you're having difficulties. It sounds like it would be good to contact your national Korg Distributor's support department; see the link in my signature. I'm sure that they'll be able to help you out.museix wrote:My KRONOS 88 also has the SYTEM STARTUP FAILURE message. My Kronos can't never turn on again and I've done everything described heredanatkorg wrote:It did this once, correct?
As Ksynth suggested above, just power down, wait a bit, and power on again.

Anyone knows what's the next thing I can do before taking mine to service center
Current gear:
Access Virus TI2 Whiteout Keyboard (111/150), Access Virus TI2 Polar DarkStar Special Edition, Gibson Custom Lite 2013, Roland MV-8800
When you say 'can't turn on', what happens when you do turn it on?MarPabl wrote:My Kronos can't never turn on again and I've done everything described heredanatkorg wrote:It did this once, correct?

Is there anything on the screen showing any sign of life? Does it stop at some point? Tell us what you see then someone might have an idea of what's happening to your board.
Sorry that you're going through this - as I said in earlier post, a failing keyboard is such a horrid experience. Hope you get it sorted soon.
Plugged in: Fantom 8, Jupiter-X, Jupiter 80, System-8, JD-XA, V-Synth GTv2, FA-06, SE-02, JU-06A, TR-09, VT-4, Go:Livecast, Rubix44, Shure SM7b, Push2, Ableton 11 Suite, Sibelius, KRK Rokit 5,
When I turn the Kronos on, it begins booting: the red progress bar is advancing.cello wrote: When you say 'can't turn on', what happens when you do turn it on?

Then, the red progress bar stops approximately at the "s" of the word "Music" you see on boot screen. This happens for about 20 seconds and then I get the message:
"System Startup Failed" / "Please remove any USB and try again"
So while the Kronos does power up, it can't boot up. Comparing to a PC, it's somewhat equivalent as your PC getting to the BIOS but stopping there because you have no OS installed

I take it there is nothing connected to the Kronos other than the power cable? No USB drive, no midi cables, no pedals, etc, etc?

Seems to me like there's an issue that can only be sorted by Korg tech.
I'm not an expert though so someone may have another idea...
Sorry.

Are they testing these Boards before they ship from factor?
I wonder. Its looking like they are not.
When you download OS 1.5, there's a section explaining how to restore the OS by using an external USB DVD drive and inserting one of the DVDs shipped with the Kronos. Maybe this can solve this issue.
