This is really bad man , im sorry for you. This just should not happen. I wonder what this is, could it be that the hardware inside the Kronos are of very cheap manufacturers? Is the SSD drive a cheap one?

It is things like this that worries me. I mean yea right now i haven't had this problem but who is to say that it won't happen in the very near future? I mean we all might think that , that won't happen with our Kronos but i have a feeling it might. Not good to see this , it is more than just one that has reported this.

Hello all.

I am not looking for sympathy - but I "SINCERELY" appreciate all of your comments - except the knucklehead who posted the "24hr Walmart" comment, another one of the many reasons I hate posting on here sometimes.

My concerns where/ are REAL. The gig thing - can be serious. The $3000+ paper weight - happening right now. No customer support until Monday morning - TRUE. Can't do sessions this weekend - TRUE.

So, even though I am angry about this stuff, it's frustrating to see that keyboard that I have raved about, defended, and purchased, just dies and there's no reason for it and no one has a real answer for it. Especially since this happened after the anxiously awaiting new 1.5 update was installed.

Even cars get recalled.

Please tell me where I can go buy this unit, this time of night - on a Friday night, in a small borough of NYC? I'll tell you instead - NOWHERE!

Can't get over the oversight on this. Now, I'm supposed to take off of work and "get it serviced" as well?
Duane Reade sells USB thumb drives. Just a 1GB stick should work perfectly (I believe you can get them for under $10 even in NYC).

Sorry to hear jamsire, but is this a US problem? I was thinking about is the power stable or have you experienced any surge? This could damage your hardware. Where i live in norway we have 220/240v and very stable and we have this automatic system that shuts off the power if there is a power surge.

Believe it or not, I've seen that happen more than once. If I were at a gig and my keyboard died, it'd be the FIRST thing I'd do if I couldn't revive it.
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).

I'm sorry. I thought repair shops existed because equipment fails... sometimes even when it's relatively new. In fact, cars, furnaces, exercise equipment, etc. also suffer this strange phenomenon as well.

Is the Korg Kronos the first keyboard in existence to have a system failure?
GAWD!! Did you even read his post? He has a brand new keyboard and it is totally unusable..?? And comparing a keyboard,, to a furnace needing a filter ..or car needing an oil change etc..?

System crash means their is A) Software problem or B) Hardware problem...and is not some general phenomenon! However it would be safe to say that something wasnt QC'ed properly or tested before being installed or assembled. Since 7-8 have already reported the same similiar problem, is it a isolated problem..?? I doubt it!!

Sorry to hear that. If it'd happened to me, I prolly react the same way.

I guess I should feel lucky my 73 is working like a charm. It really helps being impressed by this keyboard.

Hi there.

As I posted previously - the fan stops spinning and I do have a thumb drive - it's how OS 1.5 got in the KRONOS the first place. This is just an annoyance.

So, after a $65 USB DVD drive WITH A POWER SUPPLY, it is clear that this restoration procedure is useless - why? Because 3-4 seconds in, the fan just stops, the the Disk light comes on twice, and the little red line just stops at the "S". The DVD drive doesn't even know what to do. Since I already have two DVD-R drives in my system, this new USB DVD drive is now another paper weight.

How can you restore something if it can't wake up properly?

Just a thought..

A good number of users were having trouble and confused by the download and unzipping.
Trying to load in the wrong set of files, (Perhaps corrupt) into Kronos and after a few attempts, getting it installed.
Maybe the problem wasn't the actual update? I'm not that savvy here, is that possible?
Maybe a new install of the update is in order..

I don't understand why you're referring me to this thread - I've read it several times already looking for answers that do not exist.

As I've said before, it starts, the fan spins, then stops, then nothing - then the same stupid message. It doesn't let me get past the red line under the "S."

I - Can - Not - Get - Past - The - Red - Line - Under - The - "S"

The system will not allow me to do anything. As I've said before, it starts, the fan spins, then stops, then nothing - then the same stupid message. It doesn't let me get past the red line under the "S."

O-k-a-y,
Just trying to be of some help, missed the red line.

Have you tried pulling the plug and letting it sit for awhile?
