Any more sound libraries?
I caved in and bought a Kronos a few months ago...was partly persuaded by the offer of free sound libraries due to my Oasys. I have $750 in credits but there is barely anything to buy. Even if I bought everything available (and I have no interest in the drum stuff) I would have a lot of credit left over which apparently expires in March
Not so good!
Not so good!
KronosX, Eigenharp Alpha, Roland AX-1, Roland A800Pro (4), RME UCX (2), MaxMSP, soft synths from Native Instruments, AAS, Arturia, G-Force, RealLabs, Korg Legacy and others
There are PLENTY of sound libraries announced, and you will easily be able to spend all that money sonner or later.
Kronos 73 - Moog Voyager RME - Moog LP TE - Behringer Model D - Prophet 6 - Roland Jupiter Xm - Rhodes Stage 73 Mk I - Elektron Analog Rytm MkII - Roland TR-6s - Cubase 12 Pro + Groove Agent 5
Where --- all I have seen is https://www.korg.com/kronosSoundLibraries
Also, the problem is with sooner or later.....apparently 'later' runs out in March!

Funny: a short while ago, they had more Kronos sound libraries as announcemants on their website:
- a Boesendorfer Grand
- a strings library
- a jazz drums exüansion packet
etc.
If you add Ricky Lawsons drums, these four packages alone would cost around 800 bucks. Add other existing stuff and more to come, and I don't see much of a problem.

Nine engines, full of samples, the greatest thing...... but almost no support from third party, don't want to bitch.... but it's getting
kind of bizarre.
I bought KRS-02 and 04, not jumping with joy!
but some combis are OK.
I am not ready to spend extra money at the
moment to upgrade RAM and buy the 200.00$
sets when available (don't need the drum things)
I made some combis myself, but with my poor
eyesight it's a drag to work directly on the Kronos screen, with the editor maybe.......
well that's another subject..........
Well don't want to be the party spoiler,
but for me Kronos=forbearing, since the beginning. And I am getting a bit tired of It.

But having no Third Party Support is not Korg's fault in my opinion, it is up
to me and you and others to create stuff and sell it or share it...i know its
expensive but thats life...for me to create one Combination from Scratch
i need at least 2 days of work and i mean 2 working days. I live in the USA
where normal working day, working at KMart is 100$...i dont believe i will
do this on a KMarts rate...a pack of cigarettes here is 13$...now, if i sell
a Set for 400$ for us in USA its ok and some Euro Conutries...but in some
Countries 400$ is 2 months salary...and i dont think i can sell a Set for 20$.

I don't want Ricky Lawsons drums, or any drums....
And it's the 'more to come' that's of concern. WHEN? After March when my credits expire?

Actually, I disagree with this. If a company wants an open-ended product to succeed, one of the very important contributions they can provide is a support environment for developers and even some marketing mechanisms, etc.
I'm surprised that companies like Korg don't setup the equivalent of the Apple App Store, complete with development resources for people who want to create libraries and then market them through their app store.

That's a great idea!dhjdhj wrote:I'm surprised that companies like Korg don't setup the equivalent of the Apple App Store, complete with development resources for people who want to create libraries and then market them through their app store.
I have to admit that I'm a bit disappointed at the lack of commercial custom sounds for the Kronos.
Perhaps it's still too ealry, but I'm definitly a potential customer.

Sorry, but at this point I completely disagree with all of you.
The libraries announced by Korg and Karo (defininitely huge third party support) alone offer a wealth of additional high quality sounds. Add KidNepros vintage synth pack and more announcements of stuff in the making, like some stuff announced on youtube (just do a search for it). And all this within half a year after appearance!
I understand if someone is concerned to get a value for his voucher. I would clarify that by contacting Korg directly.
But all the general rant about missing sounds, considering this nine-engine powerpack with all the VAST possibilities for you to program and sample yourself, plus additional stuff to come, is nothing but plain ridiculous from my view.

That is an orthogonal issue. I don't doubt that there are/will be 3rd party developers who will continue to create libraries. I'm simply pointing out that Korg could "amplify" that effort for the benefit of everyone.
I'm not at all unhappy with what the Kronos can already do --- I am simply objecting to their having put a time-limit on the offer they put out to Oasys users while not actually having very much to actually sell (at least so far).
Even if I bought everything that is on offer, it only comes to about $370, $200 of which is for the drums that I don't care about. While I'm not suggesting that they should raise the prices, I'm sitting on a credit of $750 that I mostly can't use and that expires soon. That has to be true for other Oasys users as well, particularly those who were influenced by the offer.

Hi, dhjdhj.
Just an fyi, but if you find that you can't use any of your credit (course, I'm new and don't know if it's transferable or can be used by someone else)
but I'd be very appreciative to receive and use it to buy some of the libraries for the Kronos.
I do completely understand your thoughts, just thought I'd share so we don't lose the complete value if no new libraries come on board in time and you find you can't use it.
Me promise to use it responsibility
