When and where you had the repair performed
The repair was performed today 21/02/2012 in Thessaloniki Greece at Bon Studio.

Which model (73 or 88 )
73.

Any information you were told about the specific repair made
New keybed, OS 1.5.2 installed.

The results -- did the fix work?
It worked! No cut-off notes and no choppy notes when i play staccato (like in the following video).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tRQIIflon8

Every sounds now like it should!!! :D
The only time i could enjoy Kronos like this
was only when i played it with a midi controller!!!

Serial Number (optional)
000761.

Extra RAM that I bought was installed with no extra charge.

I can't describe it with words but the new keybed has a different feel,
better than the old one. Also it feels more solid.
Korg Kronos LS & Kronos 61 v1 (both with same upgrades)
SSD1: 500GB (Samsung 850 EVO)
SSD2: 240GB (Crucial BX500)
Internal USB & LAN:
- Wireless Lan (TP-LINK TL-WR802N v4)
- Wireless USB keyboard receiver (Logitech)

1. When and where you had the repair performed
Third Ear Sound, Hayward, CA. Feb 2012

2. Which model (73 or 88 )
88

2. Any information you were told about the specific repair made
New keybed, OS 1.5.2

3. The results -- did the fix work?
The repair took about 10 days. I can't reproduce the note cutoff issue anymore. However, there is now zero clearance between the front rail and the keys near the center of the keyboard. Some of the keys stick. (sigh) Back it goes for an adjustment.

4. Serial Number (optional)
0011xx

I had the same with the zero clearance (why dont the techs check this by playing). You can easely fix this yourself. Turn all the big srews a few turns to loosen them. Not too far. Put some carton between the keys and the rail over the full lenght of the keyboard, so there is clearance. Then tighten the screws. This could fix the problem. This was an sollution presented earlier on this forum.

K.
Kronos88, M-audio Axiom 61

Former keyboards:
Yamaha s90es, Virus TI snow, Roland xp30, Roland u20, Roland juno 6

Yeah, I tried that, but the keybed wouldn't budge.

[update]
I made another attempt at adjusting it. My first attempt was PIBKAC (Problem Is Between Keyboard And Chair). I had only loosened the large screws down the center, and not the ones along the front rail as well. This time I got it right, and was able to get enough clearance for everything to work well.

So now the keyboard is fantastic, and I'm a happy camper.

I noticed when I picked up the keyboard from the repair center that the cardboard spacers weren't inserted - that should have been a warning.

On my Kronos, the front rail is slightly bowed in (less clearance near the center of the keyboard than at the ends). It's always been like that. For now, all is fine, but I worry that any increase in the bow could cause problems in the future. I always insert the spacers when moving it, but still - the minimal clearance is right where I need to grab the keyboard when moving it. Time will tell, I guess, but it seems like Korg might not have allowed sufficient tolerances for this clearance.

Same here,
Got my Kronos 88 back from service. Keybed is replaced, but no change to the OS. It's still 1.5.0.

The keys seem to feel "lighter", less weighted.

They offered a memory upgrade for free, and as a bonus they installed the Ricky Lawson drums and the Austrian piano (both demo's). Wasn't very thrilled with the demos, because I read on the forums you can't seem to delete them... But the memory upgrade is nice!
Old gig setup: Yamaha S90, Roland Fantom XR, Hammond XM-1, M-Audio Axiom 61
2011 gig setup: Korg Kronos 88

This is a not fixed yet post.

If I'm out of line, move it or let me know.

Well, mine was in the shop 2 weeks. Happily I was on vacation.
I had to pick it up to gig today. Which they were very kind about doing.
Renting a Kronos is way too costly and inconvenient.

It was looked at but no one in this shop is a keyboardist.
Now I need to prove the note cut off problem.

It's not their fault.
Korg is being specific about reproducing the
exact problem before they will advance the new key bed.

I'm not saying what follows is right or wrong.
Just an observation of the repair techs.

Yamaha goes by serial numbers and is still replacing
Motif-8 Classic key beds no charge due to manufacturing flaws from 12 years ago.
They get a surprising call from Yamaha that it's on it's way
and then the player shows up with the board.

Perhaps I should call/email/tweet Korg directly on Monday.
I can't keep using it or endorsing it to others the way it is now.
And I've been following respectful due diligence to get this done.

is that a problem for you? It was not hard to reproduce it on my faulty rh3 keyboard. Otherwise what you could do is when you got the problem record it with a videocamera, maybe that helps?

I just had my Kronos 88 refitted in San Diego at Professional Sound and Music on Mission Gorge PL.

New keybed, OS 1.5.2 installed.

Serial Number :15xx

The new keybed not only fixes the cut-off issue, it brings to light what Korg was talking about with their graded hammer action. Now there is a significant difference between the weighted response of the lower octaves compared to the upper octaves; something not near as noticeable on the old keybed. I am skating riffs with my right hand I couldn't cop before. The lower octaves are solid and punctuate as expected. Very Nice!

I would like to thank Korg, the original posters and troupers like Piano Man Chuck for making this happen.

Yes I will do that.

I got the note cutoff right away tonight when I played again
at the gig.

I guess the travel and having to do this after work is a pain
in the butt.

The bit about the label "KDP" is very discouraging. I'm in the market to buy a Kronos with an updated (KDP) keybed. They need to included this label this on the outside of the unit, as well as the inside. Having to disassemble the instrument to check for the label is a rather frustrating, and needless task. So far, Korg's not getting my money. (However, I will use your photo to attempt to communicate with my keyboard dealer, who may not know about this).

Ok. Demonstrated the problem. Keybed ordered.

Great techs at the shop by the way.
They just needed to see it and hear it happen.
I am completely satisfied with the process.

Now I just need tube amps for live.
Talking shop gets the GAS rolling
