New offering from Open Labs - check the price!!!!
Hey check out this killer from Open Labs....
http://www.openlabs.com/SoundSlate-PRO.html
really looks the biz, and now that I have quit from the OSL project...I might seriously look at one of these...
Or I might continue to build my own...watch this space for pics on how I construct it and what is on it...... (hoping to build my own DAW VST box for under $1200!!! - not for sale, just for me, with none of that arranger crap on it!! pure VST audio performance box to go with my Studiologic VMK 176plus))

The seelake looks great.
However, it doesn't have the means to select the VST like you can do from the mixer page with teh Receptor. In other words, you need to select your set with keyboard/mouse. Once you just have the unit and remote, you cannot change anything, just modify parameters like volume and such like.
I love the rack ears design on that thing.

Which is something you can do EASILY on the Sound Slate Pro...it also has FULL external controller support..Francois wrote:The seelake looks great.

You really should check out the Open Labs RIFF program that ships with the 'Slate....pretty damn awesome!!!! There is a Youtube clip I think....
Yeah the "design" of the Seelake is nice!! A bit "busy" for my taste, but nice nonetheless...
Opan Labs still uses I Core 7s

yeah I see your point!!But this matters because????
Isn't how it works better than looks? Not much point having a Ferrari with a mini minor engine hey!!!
And who the hell is going to see the rack anyway.....
As I said I am building my own, I was just posting the link to show there ARE alternatives to the WAY overpriced Muse Receptor and the ridiculously "locked up" Muse Box....the way underperforming SM Pro-Audio v-machine...the "never to be seen" SM Pro Audio V-Rack et al
Just as there is an exciting new alternative to Ableton Live soon....much cheaper too I believe.

It's just too much like a PC. I could build something like that easily, probably for half to three quarters of the price (haven't seen the price).
Th software is important, I admit. But really need something more portable that is a complete 'instrument' for hosting plugins. Not some server to sit off in a rack somewhere. Even a laptop would be preferable.

And then trying to find stands for a laptop??? No thanks..Been there done that...works okay for a guitarist - JUST.....
And they look ugly, as do most PC boxes and laptops....Having the box off stage and just having a nice compact touch screen and the controller keyboard has way more appeal for me!!
And the on-stage look is just....better!!!
I will be posting some pics soon of my new box...VERY compact!!! and it runs everything I need it to run!!

I call it the Budget Rack Audio Transportable or B.R.A.T. for short!
The only differences from the now defunct (I believe???) OSL project is it is not a standard rack size (although it IS compact) and it does not have the ostentatious and over the top "blingy" front panel, and no multiple audio outs -
I figured if want multiple audio tracking I can simply add my own USB 2 (or Firewire with a suitably equipped mobo) Audio Interface when and if needed, rather than have to pay for one in built that I might not even like!!
Plus it has a DEDICATED GPU card, and not the onboard graphics of the original OSL project unit.
So the total cost of the system, including software was a tad under $700...
The physical aspects are : 395mm (15.5") x 265mm (10.5") x 200mm (8") 2.5 kgs.
I will modify some old rack ear extension mounts I have to fit it into a 19" rack case. It will take 4RU approx.
It has an ASUS USB 3, SATA 3 MOBO, AMD triple core 3.6gig processor, 8 gig ram, 1TB 7200 rpm sata 3 HDD, nVidia 1gig graphics, M-Audio 2496 PCI Audio -with ASIO
Monitor is an LG 1710 17" touch screen. http://www.lg.com/hk/it-product/images/ ... -large.jpg
