Unreliable Kronos?

Post by krslae »

I´ve had my Kronos for two-three months now, and so far I´m quite happy with it. Till now: I do a lot of gigging and rely totally on the combies I have made. After I started sampling (e.g. some sampling for Rosanna by Toto), I have lost a lot of work after power off. Changes I have made, new programs added, samples added, new combies, moving user programs around in user banks and stuff like that. Now when i power up, a lot of changes have been lost, and I´ve been sent one week of work "back in time".

This is frustrating, as I have a gig coming up this weekend. Anyone had similar issues? Is there any way to easily back up the internal HDD. There is a lot of custom stuff I have lost :( Replace the Kronos with an XF? I´m perplexed :?:

After any changes I always backup my PCG file, setlists and samples. I save it to the SSD and to a flash drive every time. (For example, BACKUP 4-5 (date coded) Its a little extra work, but plenty assurance if something goes wrong. I have lots of edits too that I would rather not have to reprogram from scratch. It also double-functions as an undo, if you overwrote a preset, you can reload it from a backup. Hopfully the new OS will fix a few things, but after too many stories on here of just this problem, I ALWAYS back it up. You can't afford not too.

The Kronos loads files based on the autoload menu in global. If your modified setup isn't in there (or if you didn't save your pcg/ksc at all) it won't load and changes will (appear to be) undone.

I have the habbit of saving everything to a USB drive at the end of every rehearsal... That way I can prepare set lists at home (no access to the Kronos) as well.
