footcontroler exp for pa3xorpa2x

I have the exp2 pedal foot controller ..at the back of the pa do I put the jack in the assinable input ... the other end does it go to expression output 2 , I think it does , but I am not sure,,also, what does the other inputs do ie volume output output1 input1 the instruction are not clear on the jack inputs ..
