You are so right! We should be humble and thankful to have the time and the freedom to make music. Every human beeing is a kind of musician and born with the gift to feel and think musical. There are some listeners, who don't actively play an instrument, but have the better understanding for music than some active musicians...Darmin De'flern wrote:
I find myself a little not envious but wishful regarding some of your guys music qualifications.
I know this is completely off topic but I really wanted to say some of the stuff on the forum has been heated but I think we all forget sometimes how blessed we are to have such a beautiful gift and away to express ourselves. I may not be as skilled as you guys but I am an artist like many of you who make your own music. So people here may not have qualifications or anything but many of us arrived at able to create music in their own way and I think are deserving in respect because anyone who can create something however they arrive at the destination usually worked dam hard to get there....
....I hope people don't see this as a lecture but I am just saying sometimes people seem to lose sight of the fact that the music is where its at rather than the instruments or the journey taken to get to this point in time. Comparing instruments is interesting but think what makes this a great place is we all have something very special in common we all have a love and a desire to play and or create and listen to music!
The best music comes from the street not from schools. I am mainly an autodidact and learned almost everything by playing with better musicians than myself. Music (Improvisation) is learning by doing or trial and error and you must not be afraid of playing wrong notes, because there are no wrong notes.
I've just mentioned my school degree in a post before, because I wanted to stress that I am not a technical idiot and able to think rationally about a question like the voice number of a synthesizer, after getting the impression that I wasn't taken seriously. I find it usually quite embarassing if people stress their degrees or doctorates. But this is a web forum, where we all are some kind of actors to a certain degree...I guess my role is the role of the neurotic
Every single human beeing will express him- or herself in a different and unique way on a musical instrument or by singing. You can learn from everyone! Whatever your musical education was, whatever your technical skills are, it finally doesn't matter, you'll always have to learn further or you are not a musican. The only thing that matters: Can you listen to your fellow musicians...
