Korg Es1 power problem....schematic?

Post by dperry »

Hello,

I've got a es1, and i absolutely love it, so much so that i sold my mpc1000 as the korg was far worked in my crerative process soooo much better.

Unfortunately, during a state of utter twattery, my housemate powered it with a random wall wart and it no longer works.

So...i opened it up to have a look and its clear to see that IC6, which appears to be an SO23 size 5 pin device...such as http://www.diodes.com/zetex/_pdfs/3.0/pack/SOT23-5.pdf

is blown...its really blown...charred.

Does anybody who has access to a service manual or schematic know what this particular component value is?

Any help at all and you'll make me a very happy man, and reduce the severity of the numerous beatings i have planned for my housemate.

Thanks!

Generally speaking, Korg support is pretty good, both in the US and the UK -- give them a shout and see what they can do for you.

There may be more than one component that got fried, however. Just because a component isn't black and crispy doesn't mean that it hasn't failed.

BTW your roommate deserves whatever beatings you have planned.

Yeah absolutely. However, I much rather spend 50p on a new transistor than send it away, There is obviously no guarantee it would work but its a good place to start.

There are a few threads with links to service manuals that are now dead. Surely someone must have a copy?
