How do I get my Kronos to record via USB into Logic Pro 9?

Post by Raleighkleeb »

I have the kronos attached via USB to my computer and LOgic does detect it and also detects that I am playing notes. But I cannot hear any sound when I am playing or when I record and play back. It must just be in the settings. Anybody out there who could further instruct me?

Cannot hear sounds....from the computer? ...from the monitors hooked to the Kronos? ...from the headphones?

From the computer itself. That is where i am expecting to hear the sounds come out from.

Make sure your DAW sampling rate is set to 48k.

I'm not exactly sure how to change the sample rate.
This is what i have done so far so you know where i am at.

Kronos is plugged into my macbook pro and logic has detected it as the input and output device (is the synth supposed to be output as well?)
I created a new audio track.
I can press the keys and it does indicate to me that it is getting some signal through the sound level indicator.

But I just cannot hear the sound coming out of my built in computer speakers.

I have tried all types of track setups (audio, midi, software) just to get it out of the way and say i tried everything, but I'm mainly trying it in audio track.
Been trying for two days now. Getting just a tad bit ridiculous haha

I'm guessing local control in Kronos is off, turn it on.. at first and until you get your setup working.

It's easy, here is step by step for you:

1. Click on "Settings"
2. In the pop up window right in the middle see "Sample Rate". It is probably set to 44,100 kHz.
3. Click on the little arrows and one of your choices will be 48,000 kHz.
4. Select 48,000 kHz.

Give it a try. Let us know if this works. It should if your DAW is seeing your Kronos and is transmitting midi. Also very important to make sure that you have selected the Kronos as your Input/Output device in "Preferences" -- "Audio". In the pop up there in the middle of the screen you should see "Kronos" next to Output Device and Input Device. The Kronos acts as your sound card interface.

Thanks. sample rate at 48 now.
I actually ran into my little problem again once i took a break and opened up a new project. Guess i'll just have to mess around with it for awhile each time i open logic.

When you get it working in Logic save it as a template.
Now when you reopen Logic and load that template it will work, then you can begin to fine-tune your set up.

I found the root of my problem. It was that i kept forgetting to check the input monitering box.

Save it as your default template and every time you tweak something save it again and keep on doing this as you move forward. Also as you change settings in Kronos global save this also.
