... really isn't that bad.

When I first got my KRONOS, I had assumed the sequencer wouldn't be something I'd use much. Afterall, I had a big powerful computer with DAW software. It seemed natural that I would simply use that.

But despite the limitiations of the inbuilt sequencer, I find myself using it more than my DAW. The immediacy of it makes it more productive for me. When an idea strikes, I can have it recorded in a matter of minutes.

But the other aspect is one of integration. It seem universally accepted that the VST editor is a disappointment. My DAW of choice doesn't record Sysex. I was finding myself spending more time working out the optimal way of integrating various VSTs, DAWs, and hardware and less time making music. Integration of hardware and software is difficult - as I discovered when trying to make the frigging editor work, and there is a lot to devising an effective workflow.

But the KRONOS is sufficiently powerful for me most of the time that I don't need VSTs - and in the few cases I have, I've simply used them as a hardware instrument sequenced by the KRONOS, or sampled them in and recreated them.

Now the KRONOS isn't designed to replace a full multi-track digital audio setup. But for small projects it's perfectly adequate. At the moment most of my music hardware is in storage so I have the KRONOS and a laptop, and without an audio interface the DAW software isn't really adding much .

So if you haven't given the sequencer a try becuase, like me, you assumed your DAW would automatically give you a better experience, I suggest spending a bit of time with it and working on a project. Personally I'm really enjoying the process!

(Note to KORG: I would gladly pay a nominal sum for upgraded sequencer features. I think I'd get more out of it than buying the next version of Cubase).

I use the onboard sequencer when playing live. However, I create my sequences in my DAW (DP7) and import them into the sequencer. Most often, I create audio tracks in my DAW combining timbres from different sources and then put the audio mix in the sequencer.

Well, yes and no. I do believe we deserve, at least, the same Krome sequencer (having paid x3 Krome value).

However, if we can get more advance features than Krome's sequencer I'll glad to pay for.

But I'm losing my faith, I'm disappointed and I can not express with words how angry I'm feeling about that...

Nothing to be ashamed of, me to !!

All my songs are created on the 'onboard sequencer'.

Never used a Sequencer on any Korg WS and i owned them all...never will i guess....unless something.
And i dont know anything about those Sequencer, not a single thing.

I use it daily too. Nobody can say that sequencer is useless, really.

The only fact is, best Korg full featured sequencer is not into Kronos but into Krome.

Notwithstanding, in the meantime... I still like Kronos one...

Also basing this reply on how I used to use my Triton extreme sequencer too as I've only had the Kronos for a week.

I have Cubase 6.5 but I don't have it up and running all the time when playing my Kronos.

Presuming the PC is on, to load Cubase takes 1 minute 25 seconds (just timed it) and of course a lot longer if I have to boot the PC

If I'm messing about on my Kronos and something I like comes out, it's much quicker to record it on the Kronos, knowing me, with my memory, I would have forgotten it by the time I'd got Cubase running.

That said, I tend to use the Kronos sequencer just as a rough sketch pad type thing so that I can play it back and remind myself what I was doing so I can record it properly into cubase should I so wish.

I also am learning to play the piano properly (well trying to) and find the sequencer to be a really handy metronome when needed.

I'm rarely using it. I was initially disappointed, but it doesn't bother me anymore. If one came out as an upgrade it would either have to be amazing, or really cheap for me to consider the expense.
I was originally drawn to a workstation because it was an appealing concept to just sit down and play without even turning the computer on, and while I love doing that, my computer boots in half the time of the Kronos so whenever I want record some the ideas I end up turning of the computer.

I use this sequencer in a trio that does everything sequenced except the drums and the live part that I play and it works fine. Maybe I am just used to Korg sequencers (?) but I don't have any problems. I would like more tracks and more FX, but I suspect I will never have enough no matter how many are provided.

I bought the Kronos for the sound & Karma.

It would be cool to have it upgrade to something similar to the M3 or the Krome, but I'd still not use it, I gave up sequencing right after Opcode went out of business, I got sequencers on my keyboards and on my computer, but I just don't use them at least not for MIDI recording. Although I do use Digital Performer as and audio recorder/editor, I play them live and live with the mistakes.

Karma is my band and they like to do it live.
