Help! start / stop button no longer works in sequencer mode

Post by $crooge »

Do not know if it is a software or hardware problem.

If I press play, nothing happens!
If I press play pause and play again - it works - but can´t not stop.

Hope some of you know the problem

I'm from Denmark - and is not fluent in English - making it translated in google :)

Welcome to KF! :)

Never heard of a problem like this before.

The OASYS buttons do give up - my inc and enter buttons don't work well; sometimes not at all.

So my hunch is it is a hardware/switch issue. They can be replaced and the switches are still available.

If you need a guide, I have the pdf instructions created by our own Akos Janca and could email the document to you if you pm me your email address.

You can always get yourself a footswitch and use that to start/stop the sequencer until you get a fix.

My START/STOP button was only responding to very hard pressure. I opened up the OASYS and sprayed some WD-40 on the contacts. It works fine, now.

Sina had suggested an even better spray, from Radio Shack:

Radio Shack spray

As mentioned, above, I had to use the foot switch for a while and it works well. It is under the GLOBAL - CONTROLLERS - FOOT SWITCH option.

Check ebay - there are lots of sellers for replacement buttons. IF you can't replace it yourself, get a local technician to do it.

For example:

When you say you sprayed the contacts - how do you mean? ie Did you just spray onto the switch then press like mad to work it through? What about extraneous spray getting on to other parts of the board - how did you limit that?

Would like to give this a try but as you might tell have some nerves about doing so!

Cool! Glad to hear you're back to normal.

Make sure you use that little straw that fits on the nozzle. When the OASYS' cover is open, look on both sides to see where the sticky switch is.

I should probably just say that I let a few drops of WD-40 running down the edge of the button.

And therefore NOT opened my Oasys!

Then I pressed the button many times and suddenly it worked again.

Those of you who have used the WD40 have you had any problems since??

I'm just curious as I have two buttons which require extra pressure,I'm reluctant to use WD40(even though some have used it with success)using WD40 in the past(for lubrication purposes on Vehicles)it leaves a sticky residue after a while as its purpose is for displacing water or moisture and leaving a lubricating layer of oil,but never used it on electrical components or tact switches so not sure of the longer term reliability

Nope. I sprayed it on about 2 or 3 years ago.
