... emotions from your Kronos

Post by simur »

Hi guys, I am curious about the emotions that Korg Kronos can deliver.

Could you tell and share what is the thing you love most and what drives you crazy or gives you some frustration?

Please write without thinking too long... Let's talk about feelings and not about feature or tech aspects...

This is my example, talking about me:

Love: I love the quality of sounds. Kronos is the most inspiring and creative instrument I ever played. I can play for hours without being conscious of the time is passing by.... :-)

Hate: The most frustrating thing is when I cannot find / remember the sound I played yesterday ... I really need it right now... Where is? Why I forgot?? :-(

love = my custom piano patch sometimes drags me to heaven.. and yes, i also suffer from time lapse syndrome (played for 3 hours feels like 10 minutes  ). also polysix could stir my mind up.. lively analog emulation :D..

hate = after i created few custom patches and save it to my bank, i accidentally load preload PCG and now ALL GONE
Love my kronos 88 :D
Love my yamaha psr s910 as well

Korg Kronos 88, Yamaha PSR s910, Korg C720, Yamaha DTX 520, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, a pair of Yamaha HS80 in (soon not to be) an unproperly treated room..

Love: Great quality sounds, incredible possibilities, user sample streaming from the SSD.

Hate: Very steep learning curve for me, while I learn to program the engines.
I've my Kronos for over a year now and have only scratched the top of the iceberg and a few peeks under water so far.
On the positive side: this beast will keep me busy for quite some years.

Tip: if you find a sound you like, add it to the favourite list on the Kronos. :)

Love: The Depth of what can be done on this great workstation. The creativity it gives me is amazing. And I have only had it three months.

Hate: As stated above, the saving process gets annoying. After spending hours recreating or creating from scratch a new patch, combi, then to have it go bye bye after forgetting to save it Ugh!!
Also the issue I have been having with a patch download that is ongoing also stinks as well!!

I got my Kronos 61 as a birthday present from my wife, and that definitely gives it a sentimental value :)
But jokes aside, I Loooooove this keyboard, from the moment i touch the keys it gives me what i want and very often even more than that...
I play it along with the PA800 as one man band and also with the live band, the sounds cut through everything so easy that it blows my mind...

As for the learning I still have TR and i know it inside out and the Kronos sound editing is not too much complicated (except for the analog engines, but i love the MOD-7, it gives me all those beautiful and fat analog sounds from DX series).

And the last thing
I still cant get over losing one beautiful sax patch i made on TR due to loading wrong .PCG, so i save and make 1000 backups whenever i get something i like.

Bottom line, this is the dream keyboard for me.

Yes I know very well the use of favorites... but there are two main reason It does not help me always:

1) You have to remember to check the flag and save... Sometimes when you are playing and enjoy you can forget about saving ... maybe you change sound (and SST let you playing without stopping...) and hops... done!

2) Maybe it's me.. but when i search a sound I go first into categories... only when I cannot find something I remember to look at favorites... For me this option is not very visible

Love: the fact that just one program can have so many different sound colors that it inspires me to play for hours just with that one program.

Hate: that i can't integrate the kronos into a modern 2012 64 bit daw system

I can easily understand the emotion given from Sounds. Could you explain what Karma gives to you? Does it help you composing? Improvising? Having fun?

Why touch view? I am very curious about this point...

KARMA is a great arpeggiators (+ advanced editing and control). This is a powerful dose of musical inspiration.
