sry everyone. i was wrong. the mics i bought have 3 prongs that fit into four holes. but i need to be able to convert the cable to a headphone type jack.
what kind of adapter do i need for them? again everyone here has been immensely helpful and i'm grateful.

I'm not sure what you mean by 4 holes but it sounds like your mic has an XLR connector, that's what 3 prongs is called. What you will need depends on what you are trying to connect the mic to. You will need either an XLR to TS cable or adapter if you are connecting it to something with a 1/4 connector or an XLR to 1/8 inch cable or adapter if the connector is 1/8 inch.
