Copying wav files into Kronos
On any computer I've ever owned copying files from one HD or other media to another is as simple as highlighting any and all files and folders wanted, and with one mouse click drag them to the receiving media. Piece of cake.
To do this extremely simple task in Kronos, seems a long and ardous process. I just want to put a wav file from a flash drive into the Kronos HD, so I can play it, and to save it to the new directory I made for it.
And that is, SAVE it, not just load it, so it will get swept away when the Kronos is turned off, but remains on he HD from there on out. I love the power of simplicity and loath very unnecessary complication.

Assuming you are using a PC and not a mac.Ksynth wrote:Add Network Drive
Sharp has a detailed video about this.
Remember to refresh the kronos ssd folder after you add files created in the Kronos itself. I do that when copying wave files from the Kronos.
Once added your Kronos drive(s) are easily accessible.
No need for ftp then.

This is a frustration.SanderXpander wrote:Is this a question or a complaint? The Kronos, like other workstations, doesn't have a mouse nor drag and drop. Use copy/paste.
I know how to copy, but not to paste, and with no mouse, drag/drop and no command and/or control "C" and "V", I don't know how and where the paste is done.

Right! And I'm on a Mac - the computer for artists and entrepreneurs, having given up on pcs finally in disgust 5 years ago, having been on them since the very beginning.ed_f wrote:Assuming you are using a PC and not a mac.Ksynth wrote:

But I'll attempt to connect mac to kronos - usb to usb and so bypass the flash drive and see how that goes.

You have three tabs in disk mode, save, load and utility. In the utility tab, use the top right drop down menu for cut, copy and paste.ron@ronniereverb.com wrote:This is a frustration.SanderXpander wrote:Is this a question or a complaint? It's pretty quick actually, you can do multiple select too if you need to.
Also perhaps check the disk mode section of the operation guide for other nifty tips on file management.

The only way I would know to do that would be if the Kronos had an internet connection, which is unknown to me.ed_f wrote:I drag and drop files to my Kronos all the time - how? Use FTP, connect it to your computer. You do the actions you are asking for and thing end up on your Kronos hard drive in the folder you want, ready to go.
But if it will work usb to usb, then I should be able to do any file works with the Mac finder. When I try this I get a "EasySuite" in my Mac finder, with what looks like 2 pc files: autorun.inf, EasySuite.exe, and perhaps 1 Mac = Go! Bridge app, which appears to be a Mac app and opens on my Mac, but just about all drop down items are grayed out.
Anybody know what gives on this??????????

Yeah, thanx. That works easily enough.SanderXpander wrote: You have three tabs in disk mode, save, load and utility. In the utility tab, use the top right drop down menu for cut, copy and paste.

Not sure though why I could only get it to play once in the sampler. unlike the sequencer where you can start and stop it and put on the locate and start back at the beginning, on the sampling, seems to just play once and then, "where did it go?"

Think I'll stick with the copy/paste for now.SanderXpander wrote:
You can also just use copy/paste.
It sure would be nice if the kronos had a pop up vertical screen though and/or a much bigger one, like I saw being demoed on utube the other day:
StudioBLADE Gen3 Keyboard Production Station, is about a 15" touch screen. This would be much faster and better to use and you could have split screen usage as well.

Definitely. It would also be nice if I could browse the internet on it and write my sheet music and print it.
Try to approach the Kronos as a musical instrument, the next generation workstation if you will. You'll be a lot less frustrated than if you assume it is a computer and should have all the conveniences and idiosyncracies of one. I think it's a real shame the Kronos seems to catch a lot of flak for not being more like a modern computer, just because it partly made using recognizable computer parts. At the same time I suppose it's a compliment that people even expect it. I've never heard of anyone wanting to use a mouse on his Motif or Kurzweil, or a split screen feature.

Not sure what you mean with this. What do you actually want to do with the wave file? Play it as a sample from a key, or use it as an audio track in the sequencer?ron@ronniereverb.com wrote:Yeah, thanx. Actually I think the Kronos is the most amazing instrument to ever hit this planet! Like my musical mentor, whose been a pro musician all his life said when I told him I purchased one, "Oh wow! You're going to be in a whole other world now!!!" I think it's fantastic! But this doesn't mean it couldn't be better. My frustration is not been able to instantly crank out masterpieces, but having to learn so much about this first.SanderXpander wrote:

But for sure, I most definitely think of it as it is - a keyboard plugged into this incredible musical computer - that's what it is. I've spent the vast majority of my working life working on computers, and earlier on, learning all manner of programs or computer systems, by going thru every page of every manual cover to cover. I got tired of that along the way, but for the Kronos, will again use that approach, for all the incredible music that can come from it.
