New User Needs Help With USB Issue

Post by Devn67 »

Hello, I'm a new Kronos user and can't figure out how to connect my PC to the Kronos via USB. I've read through some threads on the forum and have tried a few things but still can't get it to work.

Here's what I've done so far.

I've downloaded the latest drivers and updates. Currently running 2.0.6 with USB midi driver PC:Driver:USA_DrvTools_e(1.14_r6).zip
I'm also running the latest Editor Version.

Every time I start up Editor, I get an error message that says "There are no MIDI ports selected, press Yes to select Midi port" When I het yes a window comes up but doesn't show any ports to choose from.

I read one post that suggested uninstalling the USB Midi driver to check if they were installed on ports higher than 16 which I did but the ports used for the Kronos were 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 so I figured I was good there. Not sure what else to do.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you configure the Korg midi settings on your PC after installing the driver? This tool can be found in the start menu at the Korg menu items. Running this tool will define the Kronos midi device and be made available to midi applications.

When I open the configure driver window and press devices, the Kronos is shown as item#1 but no real configuration settings are visible for me to adjust.

It has a button for "Device List" and that's where the Kronos line item is shown but it only really lists the driver file versions and lets you chose either 32 or 64 bits. That's all I can configure. Is there another configure tool I need??

Just a hunch, but when the blank window opens is there a little box below with a check in it that says "Use All Available Midi Ports"? If so un-tick this and choose the Kronos.

Yep that box comes up when I start Editor. It prompts me to choose my ports but nothing is visible in the box for me to choose. Kronos isn't visible. It's as if Editor isn't finding the driver and or port that's configured.
