recommend an extra controller for K analog engines?
What do people use or recommend for the Kronos that will give you some extra physical controllers especially useful for controlling the analog engines in your Kronos. This COULD include an actual keyboard with extra controllers or keyboard less controller. This is mainly for tweaking stuff in a live situation. If you could also give us an idea of how you setup what ever your using up or approach this.
I'm not that keen on the touch screen in a live situation to control things but would rather somehow dedicate some extra controllers.
Any ideas or thoughts on how best to do or approach this would be great.
thanks

All of the controls on the surface of the Kronos are re-assignable. How many more controls do you need than 8 knobs, 9 sliders, buttons, x/y vector, x/y joystick, and ribbon? I'm not asking to be snarky or anything, just wondering what you had in mind? Were you wanting to try to have a dedicated control for every parameter in the engine? I think you could pretty well control everything that is something you would want to control real-time in a performance - Osc tunings, filter cutoff/resonance, ADSR times, etc.

Im just asking if people use something a little more dedicated. I mean the controls on the Kronos are great but they tend to have multi uses depending on which buttons you use such as the sliders which i tend to prefer to leave as volume controllers on combis in a live situation. The 8 knobs I tend to leave as things like reverb and the like . There are alot of controls on some of the synth engines and the idea of having something a little more removed that only effects the analog synth parts helps to unclutter my head a bit. Sure I am just asking for ideas and seeing if others just use the Kronos knobs etc or if others who are particularly into the analog engines approach things a bit different. If a knobs allocated use on the kronos changes to many different functions it is easy in a live situation to make a mistake or simple forget what does what. I like to concentrate on what I'm playing in a live situation and keep things consistent when it comes to controllers.LZ wrote:All of the controls on the surface of the Kronos are re-assignable. The biggest problem I have with external control surfaces in a live environment is where to put it. To have good access, it generally needs to be on top, but I don't want to cover the touchscreen. If it's on a bottom tier, the controls are obscured by the Kronos.
I use an A70 for my lower tier controlling parts on the Kronos, but only use pitch/mod, and pedal. I try to use the control surface on the Kronos as much as possible since it's on top. But then again, I put a lot of time in advance mapping out the controls I want per song.
That said, assuming you can place it in an accessible position, there are lots of options out there. Depending on your stand arrangement, I'd probably try to set up a non-keyboard knob/slider interface over the right side of the Kronos (the patch/bank buttons don't get any use in set list mode).
