One thing that I'm running into, I do my recording and sequencing with the Kronos and Cubase. I'm having a problem having Cubase record midi data from my Kronos when it's playing a drum pattern. I have a few ideas about what's wrong but I think it should just work. Hmmm.
If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!
Gear: Kronos 73, Wavestation EX, Polysix, King Korg, Monotron and Monotron Duo, Minikorg, Moog Grandmother, my very old MiniKorg, 4 acoustic and 9 electric guitars, 1 Ibanez 5 string bass, a Steel guitar, a bunch of microphones, 2 pairs of studio monitors and other very cool toys, 1 wife and 4 cats and a lava lamp!

Jeremykeys,
Thanks for mentioning the Global settings, well worth bearing in mind, but I had un-checked the relevant boxes, so they could be "written to".
All in all. a very strange occurrence but no matter what I did the commands remained 'Greyed' out.
I've re-set the Kronos to Factory V2 and all is well again, though I've had to re-work some of my set-ups but it seems all is well and I can now learn to use the sequencer.
So the Kronos escapes the sledgehammer treatment and lives to see another day...at least I hope it does.
Thanks guys for your help...as ever, it's greatly appreciated.
Regards,
MC

You are more than welcome. I'm still wondering why you had to revert back to V2 though. I have a version 1 73 key Kronos and I'm running O.S. 3 and I don't have the greyed out commands. Hmmm.
As far as I can see, you shouldn't either. Very strange.
When I start with a blank Seq location. The first thing I do is import a sound, either from a prog or a combi and I also have it bring a drum track with it. Then I decide if that's the drum sound or kit that I want and from there I can decide/audition drum patterns. I've always done it from the drum track page but using the RPPR page seems to get there quicker.
I have to admit though that I am heading away from using the Kronos' sequencer as much as I used to and instead am using Cubase on my computer. The thing is though, I still want to be able to use the sequencer with the drum loops in my kronos. I like them.
I still have a few bugs to work out but I'm getting there.
You'll get there too! It all just takes time. The Kronos has a huge learning curve but it's worth it!

Jeremykeys,
I too had wondered as to why the menu commands were 'Greyed' out and I found it very frustrating.
Once I'd re-loaded Factory V2 the Greyed out menu reverted to it's normal state.
Strange, as Factory_V2 only loads the CX-3 updates and apparently no other data is changed.
As you say ... Hmm
I've been running OS Ver: 3.0.2 practically since the day Korg released it and found it to be great and to date, hadn't noticed anything untoward.
I'd messed around with the sequencer in exactly the same manner as you....loading from programs, until Apex kindly uploaded his very informative video.
I've found his method of using RPPR to be a better way of loading and auditioning kits.
Anyway the Kronos seems to be behaving itself apart from one annoying key that makes a knocking sound when released ...key - Bflat 5.
This seems to get louder when the Kronos has 'warmed up'?
Kronos 73 is just over a year since bought from Korg.

MC

I'm madly working on another monster of a song. all off the drums were done from loops in the Kronos except for one section in which i had to build the part because what I wanted just didn't exist but they are still drums from my K. Most of the keyboard parts are from the K except for a few which are from my King Korg. I recorded it all onto Cubase 7.5.3. It still needs vocals but that's for tomorrow. It's a loooong prog rock song, but that's kinda my thing ya know, eh?

I'm also going to post this as a new Kronos song since there is a lot of Kronos on it.

I will look into this for sure IAA. Anything more detailed or specific you need me to address about audio recording?IAA wrote:Apex, Thought your video was great, really good walk through. What about doing one for recording audio into Kronos - I know that foxed me for a while when I was struggling to understand how to record with effects and how to record direct...
Anyway thanks
