Kronos X OS 3.0.2 strange behavior

Post by prmc »

Hi, I 'm new on Kronos and found some strange behaviors.
1 - When I edit some Combis in sequence and go to setlist, some of the previous Combis saved on the setlist does not sound.
2 - When I change to Program and try to use drum tracks, they only sound if I go to Drum track pattern and go up and down on the list of the patterns. 3 - If I change drum track pattern, after save, my choice is lost.
I bought my Kronos at second hand and I don't reset it before use.

Can you guys help me with this?

Tks

Thanks Greg,
Is it better reinstall the OS too or only do a reset?

Will I loose something other than PCGs and KSCs?

Thanks again

it sounds like changes in the global settings by the previous owner. I would start with checking the following settings:

- press the global button
- press the basic tab and then the basic subtab
- look at the right top section called KARMA/Drumtrack. Be sure that the All KARMA DT off settings is unchecked. The Load KARMA settings should be both checked
- look at the right bottom section of the screen called memory protect. Be sure that all checkboxes are unchecked

- press the midi tab and then the midi subtab
- look at the left top section called Midi Setup
- be sure that the midi channel is 01
- the local control should be set to On
- the midi clock should be set to internal
- look at the right bottom section called: Drum track Midi Setup
- be sure that the Prog Midi Ch is set to 10
- prog midi out should be set to unchecked.

If one of these settings were modified by you press the basic tab and basic subtab again.
- then press the right top menu arrow on the screen and save the global settings.
- Now try your kronos again to see if it works as you expect it to work.

If none of these settings work then load the Preload file on your kronos SSD, this will overwrite everything to the factory defaults. There is no need to install the system again from the dvd's.

If there are custom Programs installed, you could first create a backup with those sounds. See my tutorial 20 on youtube how this is done.

Well, I did a refresh with preload data and after I restored my entire backup. It seems that the problems persists. Should I use my backup or restore only my progs?

If you restored your entire backup, you probably just restored it to the state it was in (including global settings). You should try restoring the factory preload, and then only your programs.

Ok, I will try again restoring only my Combis, Programs, Setlists and KSC, later at night.

Thanks again...

I loaded the preload files and after only my Combis, Progs and Setlists, but the strange behaviour persists. Is there another thing that I can do?

first you have to load the preload again (load everything from that preload). Then try the kronos if everything works as expected. If it's working fine then you know that it is something in the combis and progs of your own backup.

It could be anything, i suspect that the global settings are changed, and maybe the combis and programs were also modified by the previous owner. That's why trying the kronos with only the preload loaded is the way to go to see where the problems with your own sounds occurs.

Well, I did a clean test and the problem disappeared. You guys are right!! THe problem now, is to reload only my sounds that are without errors, because I noticed that some of them are corrupted of some way. I didn't do a restore before because I was affraid to loose some of the goodies of the old owner. My mistake...
One more newbie question:
When I load 1 combi and the respective sounds does not exist, Kronos automatically find and loads it for me?

Thanks a lot
